She smiled a bit, a smile that was a lot larger than her usual.
"It's a Voltec .357. Model is based off of one you may be familiar with--the Magnum?"
If it weren't for the fact that they were in a dining room with other people in it, she'd pull the gun from the holster to show him.

He grinned "Oh yes, I know the magnum, strong kick that thing has."

"Voltec's got it, too. I used to call them a spiritual successor. Ah! Perhaps I could show them to you later...that is, if this place has shooting ranges."
Oddly enough, she hadn't tried to seek one out, but if the city had gunshops then it followed that there'd be somewhere to practice using the weapons, right?

"Well, good. So it's not as backward as I was afraid of." She said with a small smile.

"There are some benefits to the backwardness, but at other times it can be...quite a nuisance."

"And it's not consistent, either! One building may have elevators, but another will have never heard of them before."
She shook here head, her version of going "tsk, tsk". Because Michelle was not one to actually make a "tsk" sound.

"I couldn't tell you what this place is about" he sighed, handing her a sandwich, but before biting in to his he stopped and looked her dead in the eye "I was dead before I came here. Figure that one out."

Michelle had been about to take a bit when he mentioned the death.
"Do you know...you're not the first one to say that. It's...a common thing, or common enough among the not-from-here people."

He shrugged and bit in to his sandwich "I figured you'd believe me, it took forever for the girlfriend to believe me. She said so at first, but I knew she didn't believe me none until a while later."

She nodded.
"I can understand that--some people take longer to adapt if they're not from here. Though, I think I had a head start because where I'm from is strange anyway."

He nodded "Well where I come from, the first time I was alive, I came from the American Southwest" he laughed "ain't nothin weird there but booze and women."

"Southwest..." She thought a moment, dredging up her memories of the stories she'd heard of old Earth that-was.
"You mean...the Wild Wild West?"
