He smiled "Nice ta see a woman who can take care of her self, ain't many of em round these parts. Lotsa ladies round here just wanna be pampered and don't have no sense of self preservation."

"Oh, I don't know about that. At least, not among the regular people. But then, I'm not from here, so I can't say what life would have been like for me if this had been my home."

He shrugged "I knew you wasn't from round here, hell I ain't from round here and most people ain't neither."

"There are still born Parisians...but, yes, a lot of outsiders, too." She said, conceding a bit.
In this much, at least, it was a bit similar to her own home, although with all it's badness Paris was as bad as her own city, though somehow more eccentric.

"S'true" he nodded and started turning the hand turned cement mixer, for all the oddness of Paris, they still didn't have a mechanical cement mixer.
"Was you wanna them that got pulled through or-"

"I'm not really sure how it works." She admitted.
"In my world, things are...very, very far advanced from here. I was flying on a transport shuttle, and when it crashed, I found that it had crashed outside this city."

"Now that's weird" he looked up from the mixer, still turning it "first off whatsa transport shuttle? S'that like a car or somethin?"

She smiled at the question.
"No, it's...a flying machine."
There was a pause as she wondered if he knew of aircraft or not.
"It's not like the ones that most of the modern people here would know--it's much much newer than that. Shuttles can go into orbit."

He nodded "Like a space ship, that's cool. Of course, iffin I didn't know about this city like I do-"
As well as bein dead for half a century
"-I'd think you were crazy."

She relieved that he at least knew of that sort of thing. It was hard at times to carry on a conversation with most people in here in Paris, as it was inevitable that she'd say something that would leave them scratching their heads, and when she tried to explain it, only confused them further.
"Well, not quite a space ship. It only goes into orbit--to 'shuttle' people to the space station, hence the name."

((I just watched Gene Generation again last night, the entire time I was watching it I couldn't help but giggle))
"That's neat" he smiled "real futuristic, like them radio shows I used to listen to back home."

((Lol. I still can't believe my uncle-in-law had that movie. XD))
"Well, it's real...or, it will be. I wish I could have taken more with me than only my guns and clothes."

((It's so ridiculous, it gave me odd ideas as well, but I'll keep those to myself... for a while.))
"That's all I had when I got here" he said absentmindedly "only sans-guns."

"Ohhh...I'm sorry," she said, entirely sincere.
In all honesty, she'd feel more naked without the guns than without her clothes.
