Oh Megan, I love you seriously hard. I had vaguely thought of that when I made Miranda a superhero - I was going for a THIS SUPERHERO IS FRENCH kind of thing, especially with her name, as she's, um, not actually French anyway - but I hadn't thought about it in a very large framework. That's awesome.

As I said yesterday to Jess, the Star Wars prequels must be really badly written if *I* find them dull, and I love political/economic theory in my fictional universes- and those films are mostly talking about economics and politics.
Basically, I'd love to see the social impact of this kind of thing. Even if this is an AU France with a long history and understanding of supernatural events, superheroes are still really part of that American psyche, which is so frequently at odds with the French one.

For Sarah: Charles is in your head Tony! And Karen: LexCorp is up and ready for business! And you're darn tootin he is. Now I play Luthor past his cancer, past the false clones, while he's still a respectable member of society. So he's fought Superman many a time, are you playing Superman pre-this? Or along with this? Or movie... this? I'd say Clark has already been Superman for quite a while, and knows all about Luthor's plans (I mixed it up by using the remastered logo but Christopher Reeve as his avvie.) Megan: Definitely!

Um, actually, no, Wayne Enterprises and Stark Industries aren't in Paris. Bruce's company is still in Gotham and Stark's is still in California. Bruce is only in Paris because his entire house got teleported here, and Gotham in the 19th Century isn't quite the same as Gotham in the 21st (er...Nolan's Gotham, that is). Most of Tony's time on the 'verse has been spent on business trips--the first half in London, the second in Paris (although Paris is also part of a vacation).
...although now I realize how screwy that is, because Gotham is NORMAL Victorian but Los Angeles is steampunk...I really should've thought that through...in any case, Wayne Enterprises and Stark Industries are still in America.
I don't know how well you'd be able to *show* social impact, since focus is so much on the PCs, and normally if NPCs pop up it's simply as background noise/flavor/color than anything else...or when you need to kill off faceless people. <_<
It'd be an extremely hard thing to do, I'd think, since plot in the main focuses on a very small number of people at once. For all the many PCs that live in Paris, there are far far more NPCs out there, and I really don't know how you'd give them more development without winding up turning them into more PCs.
In any case, I don't think this is the thread for that sort of subject--this is for the superhero plots (plus, I'd rather avoid bringing in any kind of politics, as that is something that would never be unanimously agreed upon--all anyone has to do is read the old revolution plot threads to know what I mean, and it's also a very volatile subject that I really don't want to bring into our game).

So... Is the original plot still kinda in tact?

I can understand the objection to the mention of Stark and Wayne's companies as being in Paris, but I do think that there HAS been a lot of vigilante activity taking place in Paris and that Paris probably HAS been damaged, and the way you show the social effect of that is not always by playing the social element, it's by showing the effect their backlash has on your characaters. I mean, that's how you show anything.
And I absolutely think that belongs in this thread, as it is these characters doing damage. Maybe yours aren't, but you don't play the only superheroes. But didn't Batman just help Dan out not that long ago? Dan does live in Paris, and that means there is superhero activity going on in Paris.
Obviously we don't have to show the social impact of these things on Paris. It was just an idea for people to think about. But it was a valid one, and acting like it was completely obnoxious to suggest it is, I think, overreacting. Just because one person doesn't like it does not make it inappropriate.

Well, and Veidt still isn't based in Paris. There are branches and stuff.

Sarrin: Huh??? I don't know why you're taking that tone with me, I wasn't being mean with what I said--I was actually thinking more in general terms, not just supes. Unless I misunderstood what was being said, then I'm sorry if it came off the wrong way. I don't think it's obnoxious at all, I was just saying that if anyone wants further discussion on it it could have it's own thread so it doesn't get cluttered up/derailed by other things. There's no reason to talk to me that way about what I posted like that.
Megan: Ah, wasn't entirely sure how things worked with his company. Stuff like that tends to get muddled in my head, since with how convoluted the 'verse is you can sometimes not tell where someone even lives.

WARING: I sound like a major dick in this post and I apologize, sincerely, but I don't want to re-write it, because I just got in another fight with my sister today and I just can't make myself re-do it. We have talked this through and through and hit a brick wall every damn time. It has been decided, and will stay that way, that our plots will only affect OUR characters, if other people want to allow our decisions to affect THEIR characters then that's their decision.. So let me be the ass here, because sometimes I have to be and say this: Leave, this subject, alone, please. The last time this was brought up, was exactly what Sarah had mentioned earlier. Mid revolution, and it became a huge, horrible, HORRIBLE thing and caused a lot of people to hate other people for a very, very long time. I apologize if suddenly it seems like I just jumped in here screaming with a shot gun. But seriously guys, the moment I read Megan's comment (who've I've all ready talked to and both of us are like dude seriously?) I knew what the next page held. So listen to me, and listen to me very carefully, we do not want to go down this road. Ladies... I love you all, with all that the internet will let me, and I don't want there to be bickering amongst ourselves, or we all will actually become the watchmen and I do NOT want to be anymore like Adrian than I all ready am, cause I do have access to squid monsters. Anime says so. (Also I'm too built like Dan to be more like Senor-HugeEye-McSparkles.) Also my opinion: Our Paris has become like the L.A. of this world. Everybody, who's everybody is here. Even if it scares the NPC's to death. Karen: Sweetness

Guys... isn't the 'Verse supposed to be a giant crack world anyway?
Jess: Ah, gotcha. Thanks!
I'll be checking in more often now so just let me know/send me a PM if you guys want to pick things back up.

You're not being a dick, Jess. You're the only one we have around here that comes in screaming with a shotgun, and sometimes we need somebody like that.
I own up to my mistakes, and I will do so now: this time around, I was one of the ones who misspoke and didn't more carefully word what I'd written, and I'm sorry if I came off in any way that was upsetting.
That said, I'll let this lie, since it doesn't need a harping on.

(Also I'm too built like Dan to be more like Senor-HugeEye-McSparkles.) God dammit I love you. That, of course, happens the same day Skazka calls him Bigeyes von Whathaveidone. (His GN counterpart is Smirkface McUnrepentent.)

Lol.
Oh, even though 'verse Tony is 1st Movie only, I'm going to let him have the suit-in-a-suitcase that shows up in the second film. I like that thing. XD
