"All right. But you know you can tell me anything, right?"
He worried her at times--mostly his attachment to her. Not that someone being devoted was a bad thing, but she had this horrible feeling that sometimes blindsided her, where she was sure that if she disappeared for too long or was badly injured, that he'd...harm himself. It wasn't something she'd want for anyone she cared about.
More than ever, it made her determined to survive the fight with the Jabberwock. Somehow.

"Of course darling" he smiled and pressed his face to her stomach "I'm just terribly worried now, even more so than before and with me unable to do anything-"

Sarah had figured it out. Or, at least, she thought she had. About how he felt, that is.
"You know, you're in the same place a lot of the significant others of superheroes are, when I think about it. Like, you've stuck yourself to a superpowered person who has some crazy destiny, but you don't have powers yourself, so how do you deal?" She sighed.
"I wish I could do something that'd make it better for you, but...what would that be?"

Sometimes it took him a second to understand what she was talking about. She did come from a very different time than him.
When it sunk in what she was saying he looked up at her with that smile and spoke quietly "I imagine I'm just going to have to accept my place and go along for the ride, as the saying goes."

She smoothed back his hair.
"I hope you don't get caught in any crossfire again. The whole thing with Maria drove me insane, wondering if you were all right."

"Good." She said firmly.
"I don't want to have to actually play out a reverse of the damsel in distress cliche and save you from a dragon."

"I'd absolutely love for that not to happen" he chuckled and kissed her stomach.

Finally, the taxi had reached the hotel--the hotel that, it felt to her, she'd checked into ages ago. Or months. Or something. The damned time difference between here and Wonderland was going to play havoc with her mind, she could tell. Until she got used to the 'verse again, in any case.
She heaved a sigh.
"Aaand now back to my other issues."

He grabbed her hand and notified the front desk to send up room service for breakfast and that he didn't care that it was 4pm.
It was moments before they were back to the room, he unlocked it with a dirty key and his first sight was the cauldron in the middle of the room "Right."

She blinked at it a moment, then burst out laughing--and for some reason, she couldn't stop. Maybe it was all the pressure that been building up ever since it started to look like she had some grand Destiny spelled out for her. But it did what she needed it to: relieved some of that pressure.
"Oh, god, she was a witch or something, wasn't she...?"

"She was... something" he scrunched his face up.

Finally catching her breath, she sat down, wiping her eyes.
"Oh, I've heard stories...it's almost a shame I couldn't meet her, but you see how awkward that would be." She said, indicating herself.
"I think it'd be weird to meet one of your other selves."

Remembering Maria, she grimaced.
"Yeah, I know at least one other me who was a bitch to be around. But who knows, maybe there's a me who is so sickeningly sweet that she'd give you diabetes." She said, laughing.
