"So soon?"
He knew whatever her gut was telling her was true and he prayed to god suddenly that these wouldn't be there last moments.
He swiftly took her chin and kissed her deeply. He needed to let her know how he was feeling, but couldn't, for the first time in his life, manage the words.

"So soon what?"
She blinked in surprise at the kiss--but not so much the action itself as the emotion behind it.

Tried to.
The motions, the words, were the same. But nothing happened.
"Oh no oh no oh no..."
She tried again. Feeling the sting of tears, she kept trying and trying until she openly weeping and her gestures had dissolved into frantic flailing.
"No, dammit!"

"I...I don't..."
She collapsed into his arms, trying to get a hold of herself and failing.
"Maybe it has to do with this...this world-hopping! It's all I can think of!"
