"Nothing concrete, but I have my suspicions." He said mysteriously.
"It was initially blamed on the de Chagnys, but apparently even they didn't indulge in such things. But I think it may be the Marquis Grenouille."
((He could be related to a Grenouille that got mentioned before...I think it was some girl that tried to latch onto Marius before he and Aimee got married. XD))

((haha something like that; I tend to spout random names when I need someone to mention. also, brb rereading Marius/Aimee))
"Don't think I've met him yet, but I don't think I've a care to if he tried to keep a zebra in his backyard. I mean really, Normandy isn't exactly the Serengeti, you'd think he'd realize the thing wouldn't do well."
A pause. "Now which of you is going to ask me to dance first?"

She smiled a bit wider for a moment, then gave a little bow. "I can cause all sorts of minor little mischief--small enough to irritate and annoy them, but not enough to chase anyone away, as then the amusement would leave." She was having fun, now, thanks in no small part to her new acquaintance. She hadn't really associated with vampires before, though she'd known of their existence, and part of her delight was that she'd basically found something new and intriguing to talk to (and perhaps impress). *It seemed a little strange that she should take such easy pleasure from the cattle about them, but Eric found it wise to keep an open mind.* "Then this is a common sport for you?" *He asked politely, still trying to place her.* "You spend much time around...humans?" *He managed a small smile, remembering that it could make him appear more endearing.*

There it was again, that smile. She was doing a lot of that around him--it was nice, to be around somebody that didn't send her off into a state of gloom.
"One could say that my people make sport of humans quite often. Not just little things, like the butterflies, but all manner of torments. Some are worse or a bit more out there than others. The nastier ones that go for bloodsport are our darker cousins."
She was assuming that he knew what she was exactly, and not even thinking that he might not have guessed it yet.

((The Grenouille could be our go-to for ridiculous Aristocrats when we need an NPC family. )) "I'm not very well acquainted with them, but they seem to be a bit...flighty. And if my dear Olivier doesn't mind, I'd like the first dance." He said with a little bow of the head.

*That certainly helped quite a bit. A fae folk of some kind, though with the infinite species of fable and lore, Eric could hardly make a guess as to her particular variety. He leaned towards her slightly, never taking his eyes off her.*
"I imagine you can enjoy the taste of blood as well, if there were those that were foolish enough to provoke you." *The thought seemed to amuse him, this untamable vixen, as powerful as she was beautiful. And yet there was no fear of her. At least, not at the moment.*

"Oh, you are certainly right about that," she said, flipping her hair over her shoulder.
"While I am nothing like my unseelie cousins, it is best that a human not anger me."
The word 'unseelie' was spoken as though it were the worst kind of curse word, dripping with contempt. While she had never liked the unseelie as a matter of principle, that she'd been labelled as such by her peers had increased her dislike to complete loathing.

*That certainly cleared up some of it. Though Eric's face gave away nothing about the revelation. Instead, he cocked his head a touch (something that had been effective in soliciting an inviting response in the past).*
"And what, might I ask, is your opinion on the other..." Superior races? Supernaturals? "...non-humans?"

She'd stuck to a Rococo theme as far as sartorial choices went, and somehow felt out of place, even in a ballroom full of the most eclectic group of time periods ever. But then, at home she stuck out somehow. It was awkward, straddling two time periods, but somehow, between these two, she felt a little less out of place. She just couldn't figure out which one it was that put her at ease.

"I can't say I like elves all that much, really, but I have something of a soft-spot for the far more interesting types, like...you." There was a twinkle in her eye now. "Vampires are fascinating."

XD)) He held out his hand to her, pretending not to notice the not-quite-subtle look of disappointment that crossed Olivier's face when he realized he'd been bested again. Well, but Laurent couldn't help it if Olivier was a bit too plain of personality to hold a girl's attention for long.

*Now she was just playing to his vanity. Not that Eric minded. His smile widened more than normal.*
"You flatter me." *He confided, both intrigued and still as ever.*
"One might be curious as to what you might be looking for in return." *He closed the distance between them effortlessly, speaking softly against her ear.*
"You do want something, don't you?" *He asked invitingly.*

"Oh, no, I'm merely being honest." The twinkle was still there, perhaps a bit intensified.
"You are right--I am looking for something. Most fey are, you know. We always must have something. I'm afraid what I ultimately want may not be in your power, but perhaps you can give me something much more within my reach--say, a travelling companion?"

*That was an interesting prospect. Not one that he had been expecting in all honesty. But these sort of opportunities did not come by every day, so they should be approached in all seriousness. That's not to say that much of what Eric did wasn't done with full calculation of the end result. There were obligations; the club for one, but he hadn't really put that much into it just yet. And surely he could pay others to manage it.*
"To where was your ladyship intending to travel?" *He asked coolly, though with obvious interest.*

The thought of having a 'partner in crime' as she thought of it made her mood lift considerably. So much more fun to be had when mayhem was caused in tandem with someone else.
"Have you hard of the Kingdom of Lorien?" She asked, tilting her head to one side inquisitively. She knew the knolwedge of it was here in the human world, but she wasn't sure who did and didn't know about it--it seemed to be at random.
