*Eric sighed with a touch of boredom.*
"Fear not. The event so far seems relatively...mundane." *He assured her, taking a step closer they might speak more privately.*
"Though I doubt that you would often find yourself matched with such...commoners." *The smallest smile peeked in the corner of his mouth knowingly.*

"Nadir. Wait, I beg you. I ask only to speak with you. I have heard troubling rumors." His grey eyes dimmed in grief and fear. "Rumours?" Nadir's laugh was devoid of any real humour. "I doubt I can help. If it's not too much to ask, I just want to have a drink, by myself, mingle just enough to be appropriate and leave. My life is finally peaceful--or at least quiet. Don't try to involve me in your battles, Xandros." "I do not ask that you join me in battle. I am through with war," Alexander said quietly. "I too, long for simple oblivion."

"Nothing quite like a ball to shake things up," she said, a little excitedly. The novelty of time travel had soon worn off, and 19th century had begun to bore her. However, no party on this grand a scale could possibly be boring.
She hoped.

"You are right, about the mundanity of this setting. I'm actually a bit disappointed, especially as we don't seem to be the only ones of our...caliber...about. You'd think someone would to something to liven things up a bit." There was a gleam in her eye, a gleam of the infamous fey mischievousness.

However, no party on this grand a scale could possibly be boring. She hoped. "Though I think it could use a bit more shaking, though that's just my own humble opinion." Said Laurent as he slid around a pair of gentlemen who seemed to be enganged in deep conversation. "And a good evening to you, Evie...Olivier." "Good...evening." Olivier said stiffly. Olivier: *eyetic*

She actually curtseyed, as her mother had taught her to do.
"Laurent."
The use of her nickname was noted, and her eyes got the funny, challenging gleam to them they always did when he was around.
"I'm afraid you'll have to do the shaking, then; if I know this crowd you're going to be waiting a while."

While Eric was quite certain that they were superior in every way to the cattle around them, it didn't mean that he was eager to see the situation spiral out of his control. But it was also potentially dangerous to suggest such to another non-human.* "And what was it that you had it mind?" *He asked smoothly, intrigue sliding out perfectly to conceal any concerns.*

"I'm afraid you'll have to do the shaking, then; if I know this crowd you're going to be waiting a while." He heaved a faux long-suffering sigh. "It always seems that way. Really, if it keeps falling to me to get things going, they might get too dependant on it, and then what will they do when I've moved on?"

I wouldn't want to accidentally scare anyone off--then we'd lose our entertainment...and perhaps, the hunt?" Her expression briefly turned sly when she referred to his nature, though it quickly shifted back to the mischief. "I was thinking something small, but enough to at least stir them up a bit. Some magic, perhaps."

Really, if it keeps falling to me to get things going, they might get too dependant on it, and then what will they do when I've moved on?" She rolled her eyes. "You flatter yourself. It's not endearing." Then her forehead wrinkled in thought. "There are enough non-human guests present that it shouldn't take long before something happens. I know I saw Kat's aunt Ellen talking to some vampires."

"It is your destiny to conquer, Xandros," said Nadir with flat weariness in his voice. "If there is no more to this world, then the next..."

Alexander shook his head.
"Perhaps once, that was my destiny," he said softly.
"When I had nothing else but my hatred of my father, and my disgust with my mother and the need to put as many leagues between myself and the world...yes, perhaps then, that was my destiny."
"But not now," he continued, looking quietly at Nadir, "now I wait only for something that gave me hope months ago."
"Do you remember?"

"Nothing comes to mind. What rumours did you speak of, Xandros? I may set your mind at ease and then you can be on your way," said Nadir coolly, getting himself another drink and a satay stick on a cocktail napkin.

Alexander looked straight at him.
"You once told me you loved me. Do you still feel the same?"

Silence fell between them for a moment immeasurable.
"That's the rumour, is it?"
Something tugged at the corner's of Nadir's lips, but never quite formed anything akin to a smile before he turned away.
"You should know better than to believe a drunk."
