"Men can be monsters," he said solemnly. He had too much experience with that. "Perhaps even more than real monsters, because those can only follow their nature. Men should know better."

"And women," she said, thinking of Yunalesca, her--unfortunately, in light of recent knowledge--namesake.
"It's not only men who do terrible things." She shook her head.
"But I don't think you've seen anything like a Zuu before."

"Seeing as I don't even know what that means..." He looked at her, inquiring but in a gentle manner, not wanting to stir up bad memories but still curious.

"A large, carnivorous bird," she said, as though reciting from a text.
"Usually about the size of a small boat."

"A bird the size of a boat?" He stared at her, visibly working to try and imagine that. "That is... incredible. What do they eat? People?" He shuddered at the thought.

"Sometimes," she admitted. "But they also eat other monsters. You end up seeing some incredible fights out in the wilderness."

"This world must be utterly boring to you," he contemplated.

"Oh, not at all! This place has some strange things all of it's own."
She did not comment that, at a distance, she'd seen some creatures that bore a suspicious resemblance to ones from her world. It wasn't a pleasant thought, that more than just harmless her had been brought here.

He looked at her, almost suspiciously. "Are you just saying that? Or do you really mean it? I've not seen so many strange things around here... certainly not as strange and exciting as what you speak about."

"The natives things of this world, I'm learning, tend to hide out in the shadows...they're harder to detect, to stop. But I'll learn how, just as I did for the monsters back home."

This actually got Yann a little concerned. He knew he was somewhat of a dreamer, not too aware of his surroundings most of the time -- his little mishap yesterday proved that. Now he was wondering what he'd missed, what dangers he'd avoided purely by coincidence, and what might be lurking in the shadows next time he walked home late at night.
He swallowed hard to keep his rising fear down.

"I know my magic would work on them," she mused. "At least, healing spells work on the people here, so there's no reason why other kinds of spells wouldn't work."

"Magic is good," he muttered. "Magic helps people. But I really hope you'll never have to use it to fight..." He looked at her. "But I am rather confident that hope is in vain, isn't it?"

"I've used it in a fight before." She said, thinking back to her travels in Spira.
Many, many times before.
"I'm not unused to conflict."

"I'm so sorry..." and he genuinely meant that. No one should have to end up in conflicts, especially not the bad kind that require using magic and all, but least of all Yuna, the good and helpful and kind and beautiful Yuna.
"I wish I could do something to save you from it."
