Cheeks still burning, Yuna picked up the paper with the still-glowing runes on it and studied it.

Gradually he grew to feel more awkward. Brusquely he got op and opened a little cupboard. "Do you want some coffee?"

"Oh, yes, thank you."
The glow was starting to fade, and she wondered how they might get the runes to glow again.

Yann busied himself with the coffee and the mundane task brought him back to himself. He'd never really thought about women, or men, in any other way than friendship. He knew men were supposed to conquer women and do things to them that made his stomach churn, but so far he'd never felt any urge to be like those men. Nor like the men that tried to conquer men, or be conquered by them, even though he seemed to have a lot more in common with the latter than the former.
He poured hot water on the coffee and waited until it was done brewing before he went back to his little room with that very special woman inside. Subconsciously he ran a hand through his lustrous locks to make sure he looked good before he knocked on the door and stepped inside.

Yuna hadn't really been able to concentrate on the runes, and in fact what she held before her she'd long since ceased to really see.
This entire situation was making her reel a bit--first the encounter with Basch, who made her stomach do flip-flops, and now Yann, who made her a bit light-headed. It was all so similar to how she'd felt about Tidus, and she knew that eventually she'd have to make up her mind about either man.
But some stalling could come first.
"Hello!" She called out when Yann returned.

"I brought coffee," he said like she didn't know what he'd been doing. "I hope you like it." He put the mugs down on the table and then looked at the paper. "Oh, they stopped glowing," he said sadly. He traced the shapes with the tip of his finger and sighed.

"Thank you," she said, picking up her cup and taking a sip.
"Oh, yes, they did. I was studying them and trying to figure out just how it all works, but I don't think I'm going to solve in five minutes a mystery that scholars have puzzled over for centuries." She said with a smile.

"I wouldn't be surprised if you could, though. You're such a special person..." he said softly, and he definitely meant it, it wasn't some kind of pickup line.

"Oh! Well, I hope you're right." She said, faintly turning pink.
"Though, I won't have a way of telling them what I discovered."

"Eventually you will," he said, more confident than he'd ever been. "I am sure you will find a way back to your own world, your own life." He put a comforting hand on her shoulder. "Trust me..."

"Maybe...but even if I don't, I'll be all right. I'm a survivor--I've gone through too much and come too far to give up. Besides, it always seems as though I have help." She said, giving him a wink at the last part.

"Thank you. But I don't want to put you in any danger, if it comes to that."

"I've had my share. Even if I don't look it, I can be a man and stand up for myself." He put his hand in his coat pocket and stroked the handle of his trusty blade. "But rather not, of course," he concluded after a short moment. "Hurting people is not very nice."

Yuna did not doubt that he knew self-defense, but she didn't think he'd seen anything like what lived in Spira before.
"There are less monsters here, at least." She mused aloud.
"Well, of the kind I'm used, anyway."
