Living with Dan presented very few of the same challenges as living with Howl. Dan was more prone to clutter than to actual messiness, and tended to leave only a few dishes in a sink at a time- dishes that hadn't had a chance to develop their own ecosystems and the like. Still, Megan fell back into her usual cleaning routine with the same regularity as she had while still staying with Howl, just without the vengeful fury.
She was wearing an apron, and pants for once, and a T-shirt that dated back to her old life, and was chasing dust bunnies out from under the TV credenza in Dan's living room, humming something that may or may not have been "Tonight Is What It Means To Be Young" as she went at her task.

Soren emerged from around one corner of the room, fussily preening his feathers, and in the process, wasn't exactly watching where he was headed. He collided head-on into Megan.
"Oh--I'm sorry--" he stammered.
In his excitement, several of his feathers dislodged from his wings and fell to the ground.

"Oh- don't worry about it!"
Apologetically, she bent and gathered the fallen feathers while remarking, "Goodness, it's just all birds all the time around here, isn't i-"
Megan stopped abruptly, cheeks flushing with color.
"I'm sorry. That was kind of insensitive."

"Oh, no, it's fine!" he uttered in response far too quickly. "I mean, it's nothing compared to some of the other things I've been called before. Don't worry your pretty little head about it."
He gave her a tight smile.

Megan shifted uncomfortably.
"It's just- well- Dan and his thing for birds to start with. I kind of spoke too fast.

"No, no, not at all!" he returned. Then, with a pause, he continued, "I suppose I am a bit too imposing, aren't I?"

"Yes!" he argued. "I distinctly recall it was my being far too imposing that prompted my roommate to call me an ass and storm out. I haven't seen her since."
Soren looked Megan straight in the eyes with his last remark.
"I laid too much significance on my appearance, and I never quite appreciated her efforts--"
He caught himself and realized he may have said a little too much.

Megan frowned. Wait, was he saying that-
She gave him a wary look. It could have been coincidence, but then again...
She pressed her lips together and studied him.

He tried, really tried, to keep his eyes locked on hers, as if that would prove he was innocent of anything that might have been committed. In the end, he failed, of course, and diverted his gaze to the blaring television set behind her.
"Oh, who's that?"
He pointed to the purple-attired individual on the screen.

"Oh. That's Adrian Veidt," she said a little dully. "Dan knows him."
She walked over and shut off the TV, then turned to look at him.
"So are you really that desperate to be near me, Howl?"

He started at the mention of the name but quickly shook his head.
"I haven't--I haven't howled. What are you talking about? Is that a person?"

"Really, woman, can you blame me? I've not an idea what you're referring to!"
Soren balled his scaly hands on his hips.
