He blinked. More tickling. More extreme discomfort. Babe held his breath through all of this, hoping that she would think he were dead and leave.

Salomé lifted her head, eyes unfocused and hair falling across her nose. "Can I have some more?"
Don't tell me he's an asexual. I'd have to castrate him, she thought with childish petulance.

Using stale air, Nathan said, "No." He felt the need to add a please. But that wouldn't work. It never worked with Richard. Pleas just seemed to get him into more- "Please." Trouble.

Salomé sat up, irked, popping the cork onto the bottle and getting up with a sigh, walking away to put it back onto a table. As she continued to pace, she drew her robe further about herself, feeling old, aged, as women who are no longer 20 but who pretend to be so often feel, convinced of the signs of aging in their skin although to the unwary they have not yet appeared. The same itinerary of paranoid nagging complaints went through her head: am I losing my appeal? do young men no longer understand me? am I going to end up old, jaded, and alone?
It was almost pointless for her. The weariness was just the same. No matter how bright and perky her future looked, she couldn't erase the years in her past. Salomé went back around the rest of the bed and hopped onto the other side, leaning over Nathan and draping an arm over him.
"Would you like it if the roles were reversed, hmm? Is that it?" she asked in Parisian-accented French, rather less delicate although nothing overtly intimidating or sharp about her, merely the same insinuating atmosphere that surrounded her even when she was playing cute. "If I untied you, but offered my wrists... would you like it, Babe?"

Through the fear, he felt grateful that she was acting the least bit sane. His heart slowed and his head. . Well, it hardly felt better but it was easier to ignore. She was beautiful despite the devious things she had done. . . Yes. Another deep breath. If he kept calm, he could pretend that he was sitting the way he was because he wished to.
But he flinched the tiniest of bits when she came back to him. She was over him.
Babe didn't quite know how to respond. The truth- Yes -would hang over him even as he stayed silent. So he muttered a half-truth: "I would like to be released," Nathan said, not looking at her as much as possible.

Salomé's fingers were tightening in his hair in a moment, forcing his head to be tipped back, throat exposed. As though he needed any other proof of his forced submission.
"Oh, I suspect I will have to untie you eventually," she said. She was not bothering to disguise anything in her face, which was a good reason to jerk his head back; he would not be able to tell that she was petulantly snarling at him, and her voice was too soft, despite the irony, to give anything away. "After all, I might want to use this side of the bed for something, don't you think?"
She released him in a moment, sitting up and turning so that her back was to him, hand lifted halfway to her face in apparent thought. He would have been more interesting if he had admitted to something, but he was cold and indifferent, hard to get any admissions from at all. Except - ah. A smile. She had gotten something from him this evening.
"I told you you were such a baby," said Salomé, whirling back to face him, still something of a babydoll, a ruse she had not at all quite dropped, and indeed dropped only very rarely anyway. "I guess you and Richard don't do this a lot, huh?" she asked as she propped herself up with one elbow buried in the pillow, tracing her fingers over his bare chest.

The moment he felt fingers, her fingers, going towards his head, he began to panic. A sharp intake of air and his head was thrust backwards. This wasn't the way it was supposed to go. . . He had always had some level of control with Richard. More, even, than Richard would ever know. This. . There was nothing. Not glasses he could happen to drop, no contract to point at. Nothing save her voice and the still present feeling of something on his stomach still lingered.
"Please," he whispered in heavily American accented English. It was but a moment before she finally released him and Babe realized he had been holding his breath once more. It was like the dream all over again. Drowning and then, air. Drowning and then, air. His head moved towards her almost immediately, examining her. Trying to get something out of this. The time of day, the reason why he was here. Some bit of information that he could cling to, use.
At Richard's name, he his head jerked forward in a deep cough. She knew about Richard. That was what she knew. That was what she had. An entire arsenal lead by that single fact. "What?"

Salomé rolled over onto her stomach and lifted her legs in the air, feet swinging, very girlishly.
"I just mean that since you're so awkward, you and Richard don't do it like this a lot."

Thank God she wasn't touching him anymore. There was a barrier of air, an aura of imagined safety that could be put between them if one she wasn't touching him. Nathan began to breathe again.
"Richard is my friend!" he said, his eyes glancing to her legs. "My good friend," Babe added, though he sounded a bit less convinced this time. "Why would anyone do anything like this?" It was a stupid addition to his stupid questions repertoire. It wasn't as if he had dreamed of situations like this thousands of times. . . Not quite like this, he'd admit, because it was normally him on the other side of the bed. But still.

Salomé giggled and leaned over Babe's chest, nuzzling and drawing his nipple into her mouth very teasingly, although thankfully she did not nip at him with her teeth. Her hand slid dangerously further down his stomach, though.
"Why, because they like it," she said, and then ventured to add, "Oh, you needn't be so silly. You were very drunk when you passed out. You told me an awful lot about Richard beforehand..." She giggled again. "And I liked it."

On impulse, Nathan pulled to move himself away from her. This was too much. It wasn't right. He could only move so far, but he did the best he could to just get away.
"Dr-drunk?" he said, straining to keep moving but failing utterly. "No. I couldn't have gotten . . " He stopped. "There was nothing to tell," he whispered. "Nothing at all. Anything I said . .. " Nathan took a deep breath. "Anything I said was a lie. Just, please, untie me and I'll be on my way." He felt a bit bold after his discovery of just how far he could move. It was liberating, in a demented way. Very much so.

Salomé propped her elbows onto his chest and tilted her head at him.
There was still something girlish and coy about her behavior, and her posture, but frozen on her face was an expression that gave up the pretenses of a game. She was not untying Nathan. Continuing to ask while she had him at her mercy wouldn't be wise.

He wasn't going to get out of this. Not easily. No. She wanted to toy around with her tied up mouse. Best to admit something. . Throw her a scrap of dignity that she could play with. A . .. A . . Something else for her to chase. "He's my roommate," he said, stuttering a bit. "We went to school together, in Chicago."
The invisible barrier was gone and he feared that soon, he would find her attitude at the moment to be 'nice.' That possibility frightened him more than Richard ever could. . . . But there was a relief in having something else to be frightened of. Something other than . . She blocked the sight of the sticky red that he could still feel. Sitting there. Drying. He was thankful for that, in a way. Very much so. Nathan closed his eyes and held them for a moment before opening them again. Calm. Calm.

"I know very well what Richard is to you," she said plainly, almost bluntly. She hadn't, but his behavior had made it rather clear. "Roommate, really? I've had some of those myself."

"Fine. . He's. . He's. . A very close friend. But he doesn't . . We don't . . " He stopped, feeling like a fool. "We live in the same apartment!" He couldn't think of anything to tell her without giving something else away too. There was always that added fear. The added thrill that his tongue could slip and something would rush out as the blood had rushed in.
