*Micaela sat at the rehearsal piano, a pen in hand and sheet music scattered all about the place. There was no semblance of order, but it was almost finished and she'd get it together when she was done.*
*Right now, she was tweaking Cosette's ballad.*

Clara snuck up quietly behind her "aunt" and, without warning, put a hand on Micaela's shoulder and yelled, "BOO!"

*Micaela started and a chord went sour, but she laughed.*
'Lo, Clara. I was just working on your song. *She said merrily.*

She blinked. "My song?"

*Micaela frowned.*
"Didn't your mama tell you? I'm writing an Opera of Les Mis, and I want you to be in it." *She said, poking Clara in the chest gently to emphasize the word 'you.'*

Her eyes widened. "Really? So I get to be on a stage and wear a costume and sing and stuff?"

*She nodded.*
'Course you do! I wouldn't cast anyone else in the role of Cosette.

She squealed and hugged Micaela. "Oh, thank you! Thank you so much! I've always wanted to be an actress!"

*Micaela laughed.*
I know, that's why I picked you, ma puce. Has your mother told you the story of Les Miserables yet?

She nodded. "Of course!"

*She smiled.*
Thank God for that. I want you to play Little Cosette. I'm writing a song just for her, and a part for her and Little Eponine.

She gasped. "Do I get to sing Castle on a Cloud?" she asked.

*Micaela shook her head.*
"Nope, sorry. I'm writing a song specifically for this version. It's an opera, not a musical."

She pouted, but then beamed again. "Could I hear it?" she asked.

*Micaela smiled.*
"I haven't quite got it finished yet. No lyrics, but here's the tune:"
*She played a few bars of a sad, flowing, song, much in the style of I Dreamed a Dream, but a completely different tune.*
"D'you like it?"
