"It'll be easier than trying to burn three weeks of accumulated vacation time at once, I can assure you," he said gently, reaching over and rubbing his hand.

"...you don't go on vacation?" asked Adrien, looking up at him in proper French horror.

"Even at Karnak I tend to be on company time a few hours a day, Adrien."

"But Adrian," replied the boy raspily, and a little breathlessly, too, "vacation time is... is... is sacred."

"Then aren't you glad I'll be spending it with you?

He stared at him, and then flushed deeply, a smile quickly stealing over his face.

"I feel dizzy when I sit up, my whole body's sore, my throat feels like someone rubbed sandpaper and then cleaning liquid on it, and I can't tell whether I'm hot or I'm chilly. Plus my hands are shaking. Of course I am," he said, voice getting progressively raspier as he went on.
What was truly amusing was the fact that he wasn't remotely sarcastic - he meant to say that he was enjoying being babied because he felt so terrible. Of course, like everything else, it came out wrong-sounding.

"Adrien..."
He finished giving him the pills.
"You'd be better off if I just sedated you until it passed."

Adrien looked horrified that someone would even suggest this.
