((Smooth. *slaps Elle for being, you know, about to fall for that crap*))
Elle's expression only briefly lapsed into pouting before she smiled again, though a certain chilliness had entered into her tone, the hurt of a girl who had thought she was more interesting than that and was now being dismissed. But indeed she remained smiling as she took the book back.
"You are," she said airily before leaving.
It was only on a different floor, fifteen minutes later, when she'd stopped to look at some coats and to allow herself to pout seriously about how this had gone, that she actually opened the book, unable to stop being curious.

((Lol))
As the signing finished the owners of the shop shooed off anyone not interested in the store itself and Lex went to the back to smooth out his coat before heading to the front of the store. He didn't see Elle anywhere, which caused him to frown. He was sure she'd be there, maybe she hadn't read his note. That would be quite unfortunate.

...Elle had to run up the moving stairs, planning angrily the whole time about how she was going to make herself look cool and collected and sophisticated even while out of breath, in order to catch him in time, by the time she finally read the book. She hurriedly bought some balloons to try and keep her cover and wrapped them around her wrist so that they concealed her body and face slightly, so that it would appear, when she calmly (still breathless, but calm) walked up and tapped him on the shoulder with an Ellish smile, that she had been lurking in plain site all along.
"Hello, there," she said, breathing still a bit controlled.

Lex turned with a devious smile "So glad you could make it Ms. Bishop" he held out his hand for her to move in front of him "I've got a car waiting, what would you like for lunch?"

Elle tossed her hair as she walked confidently ahead, catching her breath. "Oh, seafood sounds nice. I could... pretend I was at the beach." And in a bikini.

"I know a great place" he smiled as they headed toward the entrance of the mall, Lex imagining the petite thing in front of him at the beach.

"I bet," said Elle with a bit of a smirk, although not the sort that was deprecating to the other person.

They came out of the mall to be met by a stretch limousine, the driver opening the door for them "Ladies first."

"Thank you," said Elle with satisfaction. "I choose well, don't I?"
The bold forwardness of this comment - a bit excitable, a bit breathless - betrayed both her enjoyment in the situation and her near-complete lack of experience with it.

Lex smiled as he slipped in next to her and the door closed beside them "You chose wisely."
As soon as the limousine took off, Lex began to pour a drink and remove his large jacket, turning to her with a smirk he raised a class "Champagne?"

Wise wasn't usually a word that made a girl's thighs tremble a bit, but the outside of Elle's had just been brushed by the outside of his as he'd slipped into the car and somehow the way he pronounced the "s" gave it a whole nother meaning, as well as a curiously sinister finality. She merely smiled, tossing her hair to prove she wasn't flustered.
"Don't mind if I do," she said with a matching smirk.

He'd caught the hairs on the exposed parts of her body extend, both as he grazed her leg and as he spoke. She wasn't a... stupid girl he could tell, but, maybe he was hoping that she was easily impressed.
Grinning he handed her a flute and poured the champagne "To new friends."
To new power.

"To new... friends," repeated Elle, the rephrasing a bit obvious and more than a bit deliberate.

Drinking down the glass he leaned back "So, tell me about yourself Elle, I want to know everything... everything you'll tell me of course."

"There's not really that much to tell," said Elle, grinning and flushing and also losing a bit of that control over her breathing she'd developed, "except for the part about my father's organization to study, well, people like me, and how I spent my whooole life there."
It was a weirdly childish statement and yet laced with flirtation, and the obvious emotionality that came with talking about something that bitter.
