"I'm sorry that everything you thought about Daniel, I'll stop now."

Alex was quiet for a moment. Then, very softly, he said,
"People change over time. I just had no idea how much so."

"If only that were true for Lestat" Louis replied.

Alex barked out a short laugh, though it sounded a bit strange to his ears.
"Some people don't, I guess, even when it'd be for the better."

"Any change in that fool, would be for the better" Louis sighed and stood back up "I'm afraid Alex that maybe it would be best to find a place for you to sleep for the night, I should get back home. I am expecting someone tomorrow and must be rested."

"Oh, of course. I've probably been keeping you. I'll be all right. I'm very resourceful."

"Oh no, not at all, it's been more than a pleasure meeting you Alex, and I am sorry for how this evening had to end."

"Don't worry about it. I had to know sooner or later, and better now than years down the road. And it was nice meeting you."

"Of course, at least allow me to walk you back to the city."

He shook his head.
"No, that's all right. You go on ahead, you don't want the resident pain in the neck to have any more reason to harass you."
That, and if Lestat was still watching, Alex didn't want there to be a chance that the older vampire would see where he went to take refuge from the sun.

"Of course, er" he reached forward and took Alex in to a hug "if you need me, I'm sure you'll find me."

He hugged Louis back.
"Thank you. And please, please think of what I said back at the opera house."

"I will" giving him a tight hug at the end, Louis nodded and headed off back toward the city at a vampires pace.

Also with one last hug, with a sigh, Alex made his way toward the city, his pace slower but steady. He aim was the opera house--considering the sheer number of unused rooms, and not all of them with windows, he was sure he'd find something suitable that he could arrange to his own liking when he had time tomorrow evening .

**NEW DAY**
Rosalind, some fruit bruising lightly - enough to make it rare and original and therefore worth far, far more than it had been selling for at the moment of pilfering, as Rosalind had learned from goodly Mercutio - in the pocket of her pants, had gone out, whistling, for a stroll. The tune from her pink, puckered lips was a strange mixture of tunes that Rosalind had picked up in varying places - the bars with their bawdy barmaids, who always belted out a song or two, had taught her a few things, but she still had the happy airs of Arden jingling and jangling about in her brain - peppered with what Rosalind thought were spots of pure genius on her part: key changes, arpeggios, anything to stop her from stopping. It was a warm and lazy day, and Rosalind's only complaint was of the laziness. To pick up the pace, she started out again at a jog - and promptly, not a little deliberately, ran into the first person in the street who looked young enough to afford a sense of humor.
"What in heaven's name - a hat, good Lord!" she proclaimed as one settled down from the air on the languid, wafting wind, and she snatched it. "O beneficial, unexpected precipitate! I'll have a whole warddrobe if the weather goes on this way. Good sir, do I model it well?" said Rosalind, as she thrust it on top of her head and turned to screw up her mouth and wink at the person now beside her whether they liked it or not.
