"I'm not all bad, Mam!" *He insisted, before he got tackled by a throng of Heekin girls.*
"Ach! I saw ye all at Christmas!" *He cried.* "Kath, this is... Christ, I can't even see." *The girls backed off, all chattering loudly and squealing.*
"Alright, this is Maureen, Mary, Diana, Caithlin, and Cassie." *He motioned to them at large.* "Ye don't have to get them sorted out yet, they're interchangeable except for Maur." *He teased them, to their great indignation. They were all about his age our a little younger.* "All cousins of Missus de Winter, Kath." *He explained.*

"Oh, it's a pleasure to meet you all," *said Kathy, delighted by this pack of people and family. They were her family, now, too. Wee Colleen toddled over to Kathy and she picked the child up as she chatted with all the girls.*

*The rest of the Heekins made themselves known to her, and everyone was invited up to the big Heekin house for a massive dinner. Before Kath and Michael could get there, however, old Mr. Heekin came out, escorted by his daughter-in-law, who had filled in as the family matriarch with the death of Micaela's mother.*
*Robert Heekin walked with much diffuculty, but eventually he made it over. He stood with every bit of dignity that a king would have, his . He had built this place from the ground with the help of old Mr. MacNamara.*
"Michael MacNamara, you've grown." *He said solemnly, and he looked to Kathy. He kissed her on the forehead.* "Welcome to the family, Kathleen."

*They were all led in to a huge dinner of beef tenderloin and mashed potatoes (what else?) and various other side dishes. But the potatoes were the best.*

*Kathy ate with relish, enjoying the company more than anything, but as plates were being cleared, she suddenly dashed from the table to the privvy in the back yard, retching miserably. She returned a few minutes later looking sheepish.*
"...I don't think the journey by sea did me any good," *she said apologetically.*

*They all teased her good-naturedly. The wine and whiskey had been flowing, and though Michael hadn't partaken because Kathy couldn't, everyone was jovial and loud. Er than usual.*

"Did you wear her out already?" *he teased.*

*Jamie laughed deeply and bundled Kathy into his arms as if she were a child, his massive physique making her look that much smaller and more fragile by comparison.*
"I'll set me wee sister up in her room, then."
"Put her in the big room, Jamie," *said MaryAnn.* "Poor pet must be ragged in her mind and soul, not to mention her precious wee body."
