"I don't even know if it would help."
((And I'm reluctant to give him one, because next thing you know, he'll be using it to reach things a la House.))

((*typist's dirty mind makes the dirty look a lot more dirty* And you say he's married? Poo-on-a-stick. *pouts*))
*Faye drew back.*
"Sorry...I have no right to tell you what to do. I just thought..."
*she rubbed her chin.*
"Look, if you're not going to try and make things better for yourself, you shouldn't complain about how bad things are. A partial solution has been offered, and you rejected it. Until you've exhausted all your options..."
*She realized she was being a know-it-all, and her tone became gentler.*
"Why not try?"

((DAMN, you have got his personality DOWN.))
"I wasn't complaining!" he objected. "I was... er..."
He stopped and thought back over the exchange so far.
"I was responding to your refusal of the elixir, remember? Commiserating, like. You said it wouldn't do you any good, and I said..."
He sighed and muttered, "You sounded just like Anne for a moment there."

"Probably because I agree with her!" *said Faye, rolling her eyes. A moment later, a smile twisted her mouth.* "I'm sorry if I blew all that out of proportion."

"I'm used to it," he said, smiling a little more. "The cane idea was supposed to be a compromise. Her original plan was for a chair."
((For the record, I can understand where he's coming from. I walk with something of a limp myself (I hurt my ankle when I got drafted into playing Shakespeare Richard and now I walk on the side of my right foot. Figure that out.), and when I was in Disneyland about a month ago, I developed these horrible blisters that made it so I could scarcely walk. My brother went and rented me a wheelchair and insisted on pushing me around in it, and I was somewhat mortified.))

((Okay.))
"And you said no to a compromise? That's not how compromise works!" *she said.* "A more feasible solution is offered, and you take it."

"You two should talk sometime," Richard said, a little ruefully. "You'd be great friends."

"Could I, really? Is she--alive? I mean...I thought I was rather stuck here in this world, for the time being," *said Faye with a wry grimace.*
