It was early evening, and Lady Capulet was sprawled piteously across her bed, a cold cloth on her forehead and a silken robe loosely belted over her rather scandalous bed attire. She'd called for Tybalt a few minutes ago, but before he came she remembered to twitch the robe closed. After all, that was only to tease Peter, the servant, certainly not intended for her nephew even if she had to hesitate before doing so.

Tybalt had been summoned to Lady Capulet's room, presumably by a servant. He expected it would just be her announcing that they were prepared to leave for the party she would be attending that night. Tybalt was going to be in the carriage with her on the way, leading her there, more or less. It was unnecessary, but Tybalt had started things like that a few years previously - ever since he had really entered adulthood - and was not likely to give them up now.
He finished buttoning his waistcoat and tying his necktie and then smoothed his hair before he strapped on the belt his sword hung on and left to go to her room.
He was fully unprepared for the sight the awaited him when he got there. Tybalt stood in the doorway blanched and staring, brain attempting to figure out her motivations even though this brain had effectively shut off.

"Tybalt, finally- " Lady Capulet sat up a little, one hand pressed against the cloth on her forehead to keep it from falling. "Don't gape, boy, auntie's only not feeling too well this evening. Oh, come into the room, at least."

He came in and swiftly, with his usual grace and his usual odd stiffness, shutting the door behind him. He didn't want anyone to see her like this, although it made him flush slightly to know that several servants would be in and out of this room to tend to her all evening.

Lady Capulet hesitated before starting to speak, only looking at him a little helplessly- she knew that Tybalt wasn't exactly fond of parties, but someone had to go and it certainly couldn't be her! Besides, the boy could survive long enough to at least sample the h'ordeuvres. "Tybalt," she said at last, quite briskly for a sick woman, "There's that party tonight at Madam Robecour's, you know the one. I'm simply feeling far too ill to attend, but I know she was looking forward to my presence so much- would you be a dear and run along there for me? Just long enough to pass on my regards," she added hastily to the end, and, "And to show as a representative of the Capulet family."

Tybalt stared at her bleakly for a moment, as though not comprehending, and then, with even greater despair, as though he comprehended perfectly but did not understand why the universe was doing this to him.
However, Tybalt's sense of duty was used to this balking and kicked into action immediately, responding that the fact that he did not understand why fate apparently liked to pour misery onto his head with a cosmic ladle had never stopped him in the past in the least.
"I - yes. Of course." He almost said madam, but but Lady Capulet had never liked that statement before. He lifted his chin a bit, not in pride but because he had caught himself slouching in some fashion or other. "As you wish it."

Lady Capulet looked pleased with him, even a little relieved. "Good. Thank you. Now go on," She waved a hand towards the door, lying down again and rearranging herself among the pillows. Oh, and he looked so handsome tonight, too- no doubt Madam Robecour would be more pleased with her replacement than she would have been with Lady Capulet herself.

Tybalt pulled his eyes away from the sight of his aunt settling down among her cushions and blocked out the sound of silk rustling as well as he could as he headed, very quietly so that she could rest, to the door.
Once in the hallway, however, waving an impatient hand at a servant walking past him and heading down the stairs, he was considerably less quiet. Tybalt took the stairs two at a time, as he wasn't walking behind his aunt, or leading her, and could go as fast as he liked.
Even the coachman knew that Lady Capulet wouldn't be joining him for the party. Well, perfect. It wasn't that he had something else he wanted to do - though there was always Mercutio. No, he wasn't even thinking of that - that night, it was just that Tybalt did not do well at parties in general. He had been to plenty of them, but it was not his strongest suit. Trying to keep up conversation with people who made him nervous... he would have liked to say that it was actually easier when Mercutio and his gang crashed them, although it certainly wasn't. But then, at least, he was fighting, which was something he knew how to do, even if it did not make him feel better.
Well. Tybalt Capulet was going to a party and he would do that with as much dedication and seriousness as he ever did anything. That, and that alone, was certain. He lifted a hand to his mouth and gazed broodily out of the window as the cab rushed to Madame Robecour's.
((She needs a name. I keep thinking Diana. XD Also, robecour means basically dress + courtyard. ^_^))

(( Ahahahaha. Well. I don't exactly have much experience or imagination when it comes to French names... ^_^ Also I edited my last post to make the end line a little clearer. And Diana's fine with me. ))
