*It was a complicated decision, but they were moving to a chateau in the countryside--Loire, Normandie, he didn't care. They were leaving Paris.*
*Raoul was in the foyer, overseeing the final preparations--packing the furniture, making sure all personal effects were gone for when the family who had bought the grand townhouse moved in.*

Johanna came down the stairs, wondering how to start the conversation.
"Raoul..."
She had to restrain herself from saying everything at once at top speed, since repeating herself as often as she used to did get a bit silly.

"Well I...I mean...there's something I should probably tell you."
Johanna took a deep breath, but despite her efforts, it came out something like :
"Mydressdoesn'tfitandIhaven'tbledandIthinkI'mpregnantyou'llstilllovemeifit'sagirlofcourseyouwillkissme?"
There was an awkward pause.
"That is, I 'm going to have a baby."

"A... baby?"

Johanna opened her mouth, but decided it was best just to nod.

*A huge, goofy grin split his face and he picked her up, spinning her around.*
"That's wonderful!" *He set her down and kissed her in rapid succession all over her face, saying he loved her between kisses.*

Johanna squealed in glee, hugging Raoul so tightly that he might have been in danger of suffocating if she'd been stronger.
"We'll be good parents, won't we?" she asked breathlessly as they went to the carriage. "We can let them play outside and have all the birds they want and marry whoever they want to!"

*He couldn't stop smiling, even as he helped her into the carriage.*
"An entire estate to play on, and a whole aviary if they want it, and anybody at all." *He assured her. The conversation on the way to their new home was much similar--plans for the baby, whether it would be a boy or a girl (Raoul wouldn't care whether it was a boy to follow his footsteps or a girl to spoil dreadfully, he told Johanna), assurances of eternal devotion.*
*The next de Chagny house was sure to be a home. A home filled with children, with joy, and most of all with love.*
