Mozart wasn't really drunk, just really, really tired, he had forgotten to go home after a party the night before and happened to come in to the opera house remembering he still had a room there.
He wiped his eyes and looked around with a yawn.
He wondered if there was anyone there he knew.

There, in fact, was.
"Good lord, Wolfgang, you look half-dead." Came a voice from a doorway.
Beethoven was leaning against the frame, arms casually folded across his chest, hair looking a bit wild, as though he'd just woken up.

Looking up Mozart laughed "Well I sure hope so, I don't imagine the night I had last night should have even left me half alive!"

He grinned.
"I can only imagine. The people in this opera house seem to be delightfully chaotic."

"I love it, it's so much better than Salzburg and Vienna and all those other places. Paris is definitely the place to be."

"I don't know about Vienna..." He said, smiling at an inner thought.
"But Paris is certainly a hot spot."

"There are so many different people" he giggled "it's amazing!"

"You wonder how they all can be housed! Is there any room left for the natives?" He wobbled a bit, showing that he was indeed a bit tipsy himself.

He continued to giggle and held his head "So I was thinking" he smiled "wait, are we finished with the opera?"

He had to think about that for a moment.
"Mmmmostly. I think there's a bit left in act III."

"Three?" Wolfgang thought about and hummed the opening to the act "Oh right, three, three... are we trying to find a way to end it or what?"

"Oh yes! I think everybody was going to die except for the hero and his wife--they get to live happy ever-after."
He hiccuped.

"Oh we decided on happy, okay" Mozart smiled noticing for the first time that his friend was more drunk than he was, or had been. "Well what's the problem were having" he took Ludwig by the arm and started walking "is it the music or the happily ever after?"

He weaved along with Mozart, arm-in-arm, just two dear chucks out for a drunken stroll.
"I think it's the ending aria. Hmmm...we wanted a certain metaphor but the rest of the show uses a different one...but the ending aria with the original idea so lovely..."

Mozart chuckled "I agree."
What he was agreeing to he couldn't really be sure.
