"I always go back out if it's not something major."
He was rather surprised that John seemed more upset about him not staying than about what he did for a living.
He shrugged.
"Got no choice."

John sighed, he couldn't make him leave "At least grab something from the fridge before you leave, it looks as though you haven't eaten in days."

"Hey," he said indignantly, "I've been doing fine these past few days."
Thanks to Miles.
"'scuse me..." He said, heading for the door.

John sighed "Of course" and watched as he moved passed him.

He paused in the doorway, glancing back over his shoulder. "Don't worry about me. I'm used to this." Well, not used to vampires, just violence. And then he was out .

John watched as Laszlo walked down the hallway "But I will" John whispered.

**NEW DAY**
László was still recovering, though thanks to the enforced time away from the streets he was in a lot better shape now than if he'd kept on going back out there while he still healed. It was strange, staying in the shelter and living what was the closest to a normal existence he'd had in ages. He did his best to keep up a cheerful front, though it was difficult to after what had happened with Miles. Despite the talk he’d had with Louis, László still didn’t feel very reassured.
To top it all off, he was also bored. Now with free time he'd never had before, László wasn't sure what to do with himself and had taken to wandering around the shelter or, if he was feeling up to it, walking to the opera house and sneaking in. Still, he felt like he was going to go stir crazy.

John of course knew.
He didn't have to even see Laszlo to know that the poor boy was starting to get cabin fever. He knew the feeling far too well, and in fact he was starting to feel it himself. Marie had told him over and over again that he should go out, do something, meet people, he was getting older, time to make friends was getting shorter.
He of course didn't listen, complained there was too much to do at the shelter, yada yada, excuses excuses. But John realized she was right. Pacing the halls as he'd done for so many nights, he stopped at Laszlo's door, knocking softly he hoped that he was still awake.

Even though he hadn't had to, he'd still be keeping his weird hours. They'd almost become ingrained, by this point, and so he was definitely awake when the knock on the door came.
"Hey, John. What's up?"
He'd gotten more comfortable in this place, and in turn more comfortable talking to John. Kinda hard not to, with how nice the guy was.

John smiled and walked in, his hands for the first time un-gloved "Hey, I, didn't wake you, did I?"

He shook his head.
"Naww, I'm always awake this hour. I'm too used to it, y'know?"

John nodded with a blush he hoped Laszlo didn't see and looked at his watch "Yea, it isn't good for your body though" he poked at his stomach "when you get old and fat like me, you realize the need for good sleep."

László did notice the blush, but it barely registered as he was used to people reacting that way whenever he made a reference to what he did for a living.
"I've been at this schedule for years, and I'm just fine. And who said you're old and fat?"

"Do you know how old I am Laszlo" John smiled and leaned against the door "guess, I dare you."

"I dunno," he said, crossing his arms.
"Late 30s?"
