Dan walked over to the desk and picked it up, scanning the article, he felt his stomach turn... did they have to write it in such detail?
"That's... disgusting."

"It's wrong!" Dan dropped the paper on the desk, he didn't want to look at the picture anymore. "How could people be so stupid as to enact such a ridiculous law? They're putting themselves on the chopping block in a vain attempt to be perfect!"

"I suspect it's only a greater symptom of this fad for barrelling closer to annihilation," Adrian replied, smiling sadly. "But enough of the world and its troubles for now. How are you?"

A large, purple, feline... thing... wandered into the light from the shadows where she had been napping, and Adrian fondly bent to scratch her behind one of her abnormally large ears.
"Did we wake you, girl?" he asked gently, to which the creature made an amiable rrraarp sound in response.

Dan couldn't help but stare at the creature that had emerged, he had heard speak of it, but had never really seen it.
"Oh wow, whats her name?"

"Bubastis," said Adrian, without looking up from the cat's golden eyes. "She's a genetically enhanced lynx. They're rather costly to feed, I'm afraid."

Adrian glanced up at him, looking terribly stunned for the world's smartest man.
"I don't see why she shouldn't be," he said simply.
Bubastis, for her part, settled down with her head over her crossed paws, looking like the world's weirdest tabby.
