"I apologize if you don't find the venue particularly homelike," said Adrian as he lead Micaela across the vast lobby for the first time.

*She looked around, taking it in and not looking disinterested but certainly not looking awed.*
"It's quite... Egyptian."

"Yes, of course," he said, as though it being otherwise were unthinkable.
He guided her to the elevator, nodding at various employees as he did so.

"I had a phase. I was angry for months when my grandmother went without me..."

"I've been there a number of times myself. Perhaps sometime I shall take you."

*She considered this. It wasn't exactly normal for people to offer to take you to foreign countries the second time they met you, even hideously rich people.*
"Well I also had a fairy and angel phase--the ass-kicking kind, not the lame ones. Rather harder to replicate."

"A student of folklore, are you?"

"Something like that. My grandmother had her masters in Art History and that definitely influenced childhood interests."

"I'm afraid my parents never encouraged me in my choice of pursuits," he began as the elevator doors began to slide open, "but they were hardly the kind one would want to-"
He stopped short, as there was something large, fuzzy, and vividly magenta barrelling at them.

*Micaela jumped and cried out a little, but soon realized that it appeared to be a giant cat. But pink. Which, well, the things she'd seen recently made it comprehensible to her. She offered a palm tentatively, in case the creature should want to sniff it.*

Adrian, for his part, seemed entirely unsurprised by this invasion, and in fact bent down to rub the creature on the sides of its face- at least, when it was still enough to let him. It continued to jump up and down, occasionally sticking its hindquarters in the air while flicking its tail back and forth, exactly like an oversized kitten, which was a fairly good description of how he was talking to it.
"Did my girl miss me, hmmm? Are you hungry? Oh, yes, someone's very excited to see me, I can tell."

Dan looked up from the chair he was sitting in and stood up staring over at the elevator where Bubastis had run.
((Did I spell that right?))

*Micaela just sort of blinked.*
"So you have a giant magenta cat." *She said dryly.*

"Micaela, this is Bubastis," said Adrian "Urf," said Bubastis.
The moment was interrupted by the approach of a blonde woman, also in magenta, who took Adrian by the arm.
"What is it?" he began.
The woman merely pointed to where Dan was sitting in the corner.
"Did you tell him I had an appointment?" "You didn't mention it to me, sir."
Adrian sighed.
"Very well."
He turned to Micaela and gestured toward the man in the corner.
"Micaela, this is Daniel Dreiburg, an old colleague of mine."

Dan smiled and walked over to them, tripping over a rug and stumbling forward slightly. "Uh hi."
