Itsuki sat somewhat alone in the courtyard with his books and quills scattered around him, some floating, some writing, but all working. He got a few looks from some of the first years and second years, but most people around his year just smiled and ignored him.

Kiki didn't really seem to notice if many people were giving her looks; she was just happy to be here, if still a little adjusting to the surprise of a the whole insitution. They probably were giving her looks, too, especially with her transistor television set. Either way, she wandered into the courtyard as well, looking around for a place to sit down.
Noticing a free spot next to another student (also Japanese), she went over. "Hi there! I'm Kiki," she said, friendly as ever. "Is this seat taken?"

Suddenly pulled from his work the quills dropped along with the parchment, he turned to her with a look of surprise and annoyance, although he wasn't aware of the second one. "Uh, no" he shook his head, trying to rid himself of anything rude he might say "Itsuki" he bowed his head, in a half bow.

Well, Kiki never meant to be rude, but sometimes her...exuberance and attempts to reach out and be friendly made her fail to realize that people were busy. "Great," she replied, sitting down and sighing in relief as she set her fairly heavy load of luggage down--this time, she'd come prepared.
"Kiki."

"Uh-huh," she replied, leaning back now and setting a textbook next to her. "Well, sort of. There wasn't any place like this near home, so I wasn't enrolled in any."

He nodded "Well you've chose a good one, I've been to six wizarding and witchcraft schools and so far this seems to be the best."

Kiki smiled, her spirits buoyed. "Oh, great! I guess that's lucky for me, then. I always wanted to go to Paris, anyway."
She paused, looking for small talk to make as she lightly drummed her heels against the stone. "I saw all the owls here...I guess that means I won't be making any deliveries. Oh! That reminds me, have you seen Jiji around? He's my cat."

"Jiji?" He repeated the name and shook his head "I've seen many cats around here, I'm afraid I couldn't be sure who's who." He almost smiled, the girl was nice enough, a little airy, but that never bothered him. "Deliveries?" He tapped his chin, she had remarked about the owls and nodded "Aren't you a bit young for a job such as that?"

"Aww. Well, I'm sure he'll be okay for now. He's tough like that." In fact, he could talk to her and tell her in detail just how tough he was. As for herself, she seldom considered her own qualities, but it was nice to be liked. "Hm? Oh, no! As a matter of fact, that was kind of my rite-of-passage thing back at home."

"Oh" he suddenly wandered what part of Japan still held on to such customs, but ignored it "I'm afraid I wouldn't understand that, my father wanted me to be a banker" he picked up his quill and waved his wand toward the parchment and they gathered themselves up together in a neat pile.
((It was a 7 and half inch black walnut, strong, dragon heartstring... if anyone cares.))

Kiki was from Aomori-ken ((I'm just making that up, I forget the actual location, if there was one in the novel)), where such things still happened, but it was a dying custom. Ah, well, such was the way of time and modernity. Still, she was pretty impressed with the idea, really, but smiled. "That's just as good a profession, I'm quite sure." Looking around at all the students gathered, she thoughtfully gazed at her own newly-purchased wand.
((Hers is willow, 10 3/4 inches, whippy and with a unicorn tail hair core.))

"He wasn't too excited about me going in to magic, see both my parents are muggles, and from childhood up I thought I was too. Until I got the damned letter from the academy in Japan." He looked over at her wand "That's nice."
((Tell me your a Harry Potter geek too, cause that would be awesome))

"Huh. Wow, and you know, at first I wasn't sure if there really were any of us left besides us and the one I met on my trip. My dad's not." She smiled at his compliment. "Oh, this? Thanks, I just got it recently and it actually feels pretty neat to have it, you know?"
((Definitely.))

"You get used to it" he nodded slowly becoming pulled back in to his work "but there are some people, that don't need it... I hear Professor Snape doesn't..."
((Sweeet))
