The night was dark but that didn't quiet down a city like fair Paris. The midnight hour had long since past but bright city lights and wandering feet made the scene feel like it was moving. Outside the opera house, a show had just ended, and the dregs of the audience were still filtering away when he came into view, disheveled and lonely.
Fred had been wondering for hours, feeling far too exposed for his own good. His body guards were no where in site and he hadn't seen a single car or taxi that might be able to take him back to his office. He hadn't seen a single ship in the sky nor had he seen anyone or any place that was familiar. He sighed for what had to be the millionth time that day.
He stopped in front of the opera house and, tightening his jacket around his shoulders, stepped into the foyer to get away from the cold winter air.

Gene stumbled out of the bar for the thousandth time, groaning and holding his head. He usually took alcohol well, but he had been using it as a crutch lately. Abandoned by his crew, he had been struggling to find a job. Anything to get him back to his ship.
"I'm the captain, damn it!" he yelled to evening sky. Passersby looked at him strangely. He grumbled. "I need to get a room," and head off in the direction to the nearest hotel.
He didn't have any money, but he figured he could do a favor for somebody along the way.

Fred leaned sadly against the doorway looking out onto the busy street when he saw a familiar head of red hair stumbling by. His eyes lit up and his hands flew up and clasped each other in joy. Finally a familiar face!
Fred ran at the red head and threw his arms around his neck in a flying hug at max speed yelling out, "GENE!!"
He rubbed his head into the side of Gene's face speaking all the while, fast and excitedly, "Gene! It really is you! I new someone would come and rescue me eventually, Ive been alone and lost and distressed and oh its so good to see you!! Do you have any idea--" he continued on for a while before he realized that Gene wasn't struggling.
"Gene?" He poked his face, "Are you drunk?"

Gene suddenly pushed him away. "I'm not... drunk!" He shot back with an expression that betrayed him. "What the hell are you doing here, anyway?" He couldn't help but be happy to see him. Perhaps it was the familiar face in light of recent abandon. Or... maybe it was the fact he could lend him some money.

"You are! Your completely wasted!" Fred fussed, though a bright pink blush on his cheeks showed that he was overjoyed to see Gene. He fidgeted, "I don't know how I got here, and I've been doing nothing but wander around ever since!"

His stomach growled.
"Talk later. Buy food now..." He grumbled, holding his stomach. Gene usually had at least a little something to eat when having a drink, but choosing between food and alcohol just wasn't fair.
"You have money... right? Do they take wong?"
((Wong is the currency in Outlaw Star. But it sounds humorous in this situation! xD))

'No but I certainly do lover!'
Fred had to fight not to say these words out loud. "I don't think so, Gene. From what I can gather we are on Earth; in Paris I think I heard someone say. Earlier on I tried to buy some food for myself but it seems that no one takes wong here!"
'Of course if you did I would certainly be their first buyer~♥'
He really needed to get such thoughts out of his head.

The fact that Fred was blushing and drooling with a deranged expression of lust on his face was only a little more disturbing than the fact that they had no way of getting food or a place to sleep.
"I guess we'll have to get a part time job until we can track down the Outlaw Star" Although he didn't know how long that would be... He recalled Melfina being quite upset at him for his last grope attempt. Gene closed his eyes and crossed his arms seriously remembering the red glowing hand mark on his face as he was practically pushed out of the ship as it was taking off again from earth. "I suppose for the night we'll be sleeping under a bridge, so to speak."
It's now the early hours of the morning and Gene just wants to rest away his headache. He takes to a bench in a nearby park and tucks his arms beneath his (totally badass) cape. He closes his eyes, only to crack one open, watching Fred scurry around trying to find a comfortable place to rest for his pampered self.
Something that Gene was thankful for was the fact that he could rest comfortably anywhere (as long as he wasn't in the middle of a battle with space pirates or something.)

Fred ran from place to place trying to find a comfortable place until he stood on the plushest patch of grass that he could find, and then just... stood there. Contemplating, with the most serious look on his face. "My my, what a bother," he said to himself though loud enough that anyone within conversation distance could hear him, "If I laid my jacket here I most certainly would be comfortable, and at least have somewhere to lay my head on, as well as being able to avoid getting wet... But then I'd be cold!
"But if I wrapped my jacket around myself in an attempt to keep warm then what would I use as a pillow? My arm? Oh but it would most certainly fall asleep and then I would be most uncomfortable. Plus my legs might get wet from the grass in the early morning."
Fred turned to regard another bench a little farther away, "And if I slept on a bench that would most definitaly leave my back aching in the morning! Sleeping sitting up, or even sleeping on wood period," he shuddered, "Its just so unfair!"

Already drifting off, Gene began thinking of women, as usual. Their beautiful curves, soft locks, he could run his hands through... And then he thought of Mel again. He didn't understand it. After all he always sort of believed she had a thing for him, too.
"Mmmm... grmmm... hmmm..." he mumbled in his sleep. He imagined simply holding Melfina in his arms. As much as he hated to admit it to himself, his crude sexual gestures were only covering up his true feelings for her. He could almost feel her tender, warm body resting on top of him, in his arms as he lay on the cold park bench... "...find your true identity..." he mumbled groggily in his sleep as he held the body underneath his cloak closer for warmth and comfort...

"OOooh, Gene ~ " Fred swooned as Gene hugged him closer, "I didnt know you liked to snuggle you filthy puppy you ~ " Fred couldn't find a solution to his sleeping dilema so he had sneekily and silently snuck onto the bench next to Gene. It was a small bench so he had found his back pressed up against Gene's, but in his sleep the red haired mand had somehow rolled over and grabbed ahold of him, mumbling. Fred had of course, happily complied to Gene's unconcious wish to get closer and hugged him around his middle, and was now currently rubbing the side of his face against the man's chest.

It was dawn when Gene awoke to find Fred somehow glued to his body. His eyes widened in utter terror at the man's effeminate face snuggled against his collor bone. After freezing in terror for a few long seconds, Gene yelled and literally jumped into the air 10 feet, landing in front of the bench, pointing. All he could do was point, and gasp the words... "PERSONAL.... SPACE...!" repeatedly.
The red-haired Gene seemed redder than ever with rage and embarassment. He regretfully knew of Fred's affinity for his man parts, but he never thought he'd go so far as to ambush-cuddle him. "What the f*ck!?" he finally managed to yell at his waking little angel on the park bench.
