"Silver," Krolock said helpfully, certainly glad to give tips on how to kill other supernatural beings.
"Silver harms were-beasts like sunlight harms vampires. Well, they don't burn so much as end up in terrible pain."

"Oh, now that's good to know... thank you. I usually carry that around, actually," Yager said happily, sticking his hand in the collar of his shirt, fingers searching for his necklace. He could only hope the sewers hadn't dissolved it.
"Ah, found it! You mean like this, right?" The vampire hunter proudly produced a small silver crucifix on a chain.

Although he didn't recoil like a stereotypical vampire would, he did flinch at it.
"Er...yes. But you would have to actually hit them with it. Most use silver bullets for that purpose."

Yager shook his head, tucking the necklace inside his shirt again.
"I suppose I could toss it at them... shooting would become difficult since I would be running very fast in the other direction." He chuckled for a moment. "That, and I can't handle a gun to save my life... which would probably be the case. Old fashioned guy, you know. Give me a stake and a hammer, I'll be just fine. My father always told me that if that fails, something sharp applied directly to the neck will usually work no matter what you're dealing with."
The vampire hunter was talking in a rather perky, conversational manner... not at all in a 'I'm listing ways of how to kill you' kind of manner. Which was scarier was probably all in the eye of the beholder.

Krolock could not figure Yager out, but he was beginning to take the line of reasoning that it was best not to try. One could get a headache if they did.
"Ah, old-fashioned? I've heard tell of were-beast hunters that use archaic weapons instead of guns--swords and such."

"I'm not a were-beast hunter, remember? I hunt vampires... and I do so rather well, even if I only say so myself. I mean, look at us. I'm even bumping into the undead when I'm not looking for them," Yager said with a very unintimidating laugh.
Well, technically he HAD been looking for vampires when it all started... and had hunted one prior to this encounter... but this particular one was a vampire he hadn't been looking for. Yager felt that was enough to count as an unintentional show of his talent.
Actually, his vampire-finding talent was one of the few things his father had ever praised... which automatically made it a very good thing indeed.

"Oh, I know you're not. But it doesn't hurt to be forwarned in case you run across one. They're not as common as vampires are in Paris, but they can be found here."
Krolock wanted to comment that bumping into vampires and slaying them were two entirely different things, but he refrained. He he could not, for the life of him, have ever heard of a vampire hunter that simply conversed with his prey. Even Abronsius, as bumbling as he was, had nothing but undead destruction on his mind.

"Well, yes... but my general attitude to anything that isn't a vampire and wants to eat me is to run like Hell. Quite a successful procedure so far, as can be deduced from my continued existence." Yager winked playfully at the vampire, he was rather beginning to like this one. It wasn't very often your intended prey gave you tips on how not to get killed.
"But I shall keep your ideas in mind, should the running fail," the hunter said cheerfully. "Of course, my actions towards hungry vampires are quite different.... wouldn't get very far in hunting if I just ran away." He laughed.

"Indeed...not."
He was still a bit fuzzy-headed, as the sun was up outside and this hour was usually one spent asleep. It was much like when he was human and had stayed up past three in the morning.
"Though, not all the vampires here follow the same rules. There's quite a variety in this city." A fact he found rather intriguing, really. He'd heard of some that weren't affected by holy symbols, for instance--a trait he wouldn't mind having himself.

"Indeed... trust me, you do not want to meet some of the things that call themselves 'vampires' around here."
For a moment Yager looked almost offended and mumbled something including 'sunlight', 'sparkling' and 'games'.
"But one makes do with the hand they're dealt, I suppose. Only a few nights ago I met one who apparently thought himself immune to a stake through the heart... took off his shirt and everything." Not that the hunter disagreed with the whole idea. No reason to ruin perfectly good shirts by poking holes through them.

Krolock rolled his eyes--not at Yager, but at the thought of some of these other vampires.
"These young vampires...they know nothing of their ancient heritage! Going about playing games with tradition and flaunting their defiance of the old ways...it makes one ill."

"Oh, I wholeheartedly agree with you there." Yager nodded, somewhat grimly.
"I mean, the religious thing was only the beginning. I can accept someone shying away from the star of David rather than the crucifix... but now between the sunlight and the stake... and the blood, let's not forget the blood!" Yager waved his hand for a few moments as if trying to physically show his utter frustration.
"I mean, honestly... sometimes I feel we're only one step away from vampires drinking tomato juice! What am I supposed to do then, burn down Hot Topic?" The hunter shook his head.

Krolock made a disgusted face.
"If it were at all in my power, I would banish the lot of them off the face of this city."

"Well, unfortunately it isn't in your power... nor is it in mine. I mean, I try my best with the hunting and such, but when people don't have the decency to die when they're supposed to... well, it makes my job a lot harder."
Yes, Yager really liked this vampire... mostly because he was acting like an ACTUAL vampire.

((Bwahaha...this whole scene just makes me snicker))
"I believe there are other hunters here in the city, that are having much the same problem as you--though I do believe that recently some of them took care of an outbreak of zombies."
