This wasn't just your everyday collection Quincy saw; it looked like this girl was planning on starting her own library. Getting all of these books must have cost the girl a fortune; it was a wonder she had any money left over to pay rent. He recalled reading an article online about unusual addictions, which included book-collecting, but somehow it seemed alright. She did look like the bookish type. "Cor. You must really like books, eh?" he asked the woman. Funny, he kind of recognized her, but he couldn't remember why.

As a matter of fact, ironically, Yomiko had enough books at home to fill quite a few respectable libraries, and she was only 25. Already she had been given some appreciation awards by the bookstores in Tokyo, and the employees knew her face. Addiction? Yomiko doubted that. For her, books were more of a...whole experience. It was difficult to explain.
"Oh, of course," she replied, looking up, smiling as always, her eyes seeming even larger and bluer from the exciting thing she'd just read. "One has to. Books have...well, they have the whole world in them, and they'll never let you down." Something occurred to her. "Oh! My name is Yomiko Readman." Another quick bow.

Quincy nodded, turning over one of the newer books to look at the back cover. "I'm Quincy Archer. Nice to-" It was then that he realized the full implications of what this woman had said; fortunately, he'd only just used the toilet. His skin iced over, his heart skipped a beat, and he backed up against the wall, fearfully eyeing the girl like she'd just ripped a hunk of someone else's flesh off with her teeth. Blue hair, cute glasses, large bosom, expensive and expansive book collection; either this was the actual Yomiko Readman or the most hardcore cosplayer on the planet. YOMIKO READMAN? He thought he was over his hallucinatory phase and the first place he ends up in turns out to be YOMIKO READMAN's apartment? No. This is not fucking happening. Not again! "Well-it's-been-nice-to-meet-you-but-I've-gotta-be-on-my-way-gotta-find-a-place-to-live-a-bite-to-eat-a-job-you-know-how-it-is-these-days." Quincy spouted as fast as he can in a significantly less pronounced accent than before, then sprinted for the door, clumsily jiggled it open, and ran the fuck out of Yomiko's flat. Yomiko settled back on the rather comfortable pillows, propping up her book on her lap. Out of the corner of her eye, though, she saw his movement, and frankly it alarmed her as well. Needless to say, it was always alarming when someone eyed you like some sort of monster, and she stared back, eyebrows raised.
She might point out, if she knew his thoughts, and could get over the sufficiently creepy idea that in some universe she might be fictional, that she wasn't exactly going to hurt him. However, she merely blinked at the startled reaction from him, even getting out of bed. "Hey, wait! Where are you going?"

(And... Reboot!)
Azula stirred to consiousness from under her covers, sucking in a deep breath through her nostrils as she felt the sun stream the subtle, reaffirming energies into her it always had every sunrise since she was five. The former princess sat up and stretched slightly, golden eyes inspecting the small, but comfortable bedroom she now enjoyed. Bed. Door. Closet. Window with slightly cracked shades. Desk. Scattered candles. Dressmaker's dummy with Fire Nation Armor in the corner. Bookshelf crowded with some of Yomiko's less valuable tomes.
That last one brought a brief smile to her lips, a small sacrifice on her part when they had cleared this chamber out. Otherwise the rest of the flat would have been completely overun with the things after also clearing out the cooking area and the bathroom and the walkways and some of the furniture...
Azula took a deep breath and settled into the lotus position, one hand flicking out to light the candles in a flurry of quick gestures. The flames burned blue, rising and falling slightly with the princess' chest as she slipped into meditation. It would be hours before Yomiko woke up and they both had to get to their respective jobs, so she'd make the most of it.

Ah, sleep. Sleep that knit up the ravell'd sleeve of care, so they said. Yomiko lay sprawled on the bed in her undergarments and glasses, sheets tangled about her. Tired as she had been when she'd come home last night, she'd been happy--she got to read to local children at the library when she was working.
Through the slight gap in the shade the sun, less meaningful for her but welcome nonetheless, streamed down into what she humbly called her own room. She required only the same things here as Azula, minus the dummy and with a lot more books, which she'd only added to since she'd been here and which were practically overflowing. Not that Yomiko minded; it made up for keeping the other girl's personal space clean.
She was dreaming, and as always it confused her. At one minute, she might be on patrol with Azula, and in the next minute she'd have changed to Nenene or Wendy, and there was Donnie...it didn't matter, though. These were all good dreams.

Having showered after an hour of meditation to bank her inner fire for the daily trials ahead, Azula had dressed in a simple red tunic, black pants, and grey boots over her undergarments, hair bound up in a ponytail at the back of her skull. It was her job to make breakfast as the 'morning person' of the pair, and this she would do. Bacon. Eggs. Toast. Tea.
All perfectly heated, of course, as per her skills and more than enough to tempt Yomiko out of bed if the door she had cracked open let in enough of the smell. The former princess smirked wryly at her small mind game, confident in her ability to keep Yomiko safe and happy so that she could do the same for Azula.

Shortly thereafter, Yomiko muttered something in her sleep, rolled over, and promptly fell out of bed. Fortunately the cushions were there to cushion the blow, and she did wake up. Her favorite breakfast, of course, which could rouse her anywhere. Yawning, she smiled and prepared to meet the day.
A few minutes later, she stepped lightly into the kitchen in her one basic outfit, sans coat, and rubbed her eyes. "Good morning!" Sniff, sniff. "Ohh, that's nice." It was fortunate that she had her around for this, too--she wasn't much of a cook herself. In return, she could do other things around the house. Yes, it worked.

A voice broke the relative silence, sounding like it was being broadcast on the next radio station over--muffled and inconstant. The visual that followed (Micaela in an old t-shirt and leggings) was hardly more dependable. She was fading in and out as if the signal were sketchy. She was reaching for something to hold onto, but was slipping away by the moment.
The only intelligible word that passed her lips was "Azula!" Seconds later, she disappeared.
In another universe, in another century, on another continent, Micaela woke up gasping for breath, convinced she had been in Paris.

(Ah, plotbunnies. So adorable.)
Azula had been in the process of replying to Yomiko's sleepy greeting when Micaela's spector had appeared. The former princess very carefully non-reacted, eyes golden mirrors that gave away nothing of her thoughts, lips tightening a little as the roiling image yelled her name once and then vanished.
Agni. She was past all this.
She took in a deep breath, extinguished the flames cooking the food and starting shoveling respectable portions onto two plates. "Good morning, Yomiko. Was it just me," she carefully asked, "Or did you just see Micaela's image call my name and vanish, too?"

((Indeed. )) Half-turned into the kitchen, Yomiko had frozen with that eraly morning smile, her eyes widening. That was...something you didn't see every day, even when you were a psychic (and, by definition, at least partly insane). A moment after it had vanished and normalcy restored, the Paper Master took a deep breath, and let it out in a quick sigh. "Nice day, huh...and no...no...I saw it, too."

"The fuck was that," muttered Micaela to herself, breath slowing as she tried to fall back asleep. It had happened for weeks now--the squeezing, falling sensation she generally assumed Apparating would feel like in the Harry Potter world, the vague feeling she was in Paris, the trying to yell, the waking up. They'd been getting clearer.
A week ago, she'd started hearing, rather than just feeling, and a few days ago, she'd started seeing Paris. She screwed her face up, feeling a bit guilty considering Azula's former... condition. It wasn't just dreaming. As far as she could tell, she was having lucid dreams. As far as she could feel, she truly was in Paris.
Which was seriously fucked up.
((aaand carry on.))

"Oh. Good," Azula managed to answer, putting up a wan smile, "If it's two of us then it's that much less likely we're crazy and that much more likely it's... magic or something. Right?"
Which didn't terribly reassure her, given the conditions of Micaela's disaperance and the inventive variety of hells and nether worlds that aparently intersected here, but it wouldn't help to worry about it.
The former princess put the laden breakfast plates, one for her, one for Yomiko, on the table, waiting for an answer, a mug of tea in each hand.

"Yes...I'd, um, I'd say it's probably real."
It wasn't that easy to keep her voice normal, shaken as she was, but she'd pretty much seen worse and definitely read it. In a few moments, she was calm again, and brushed back her hair with a hand, gratefully accepting a cup of tea.
"Wherever she is now," she commented between sips, "I'm sure Micaela will be able to get back to us eventually."

A muted firestorm of anger flushed across Azula's features, directed at herself, at Micaela, and at one other person in particular. One Adrian Veldt. "I don't care what the police said. That 'yuppie douche' is responsible for what happened to her and Noh," she growled under her breath, "And if he wasn't so protected and she doesn't come back... Errrgh, I don't know what I'd do. Actually, I do, but it would be the kind of thing I try not to want to do anymore."
She sighed and masked her inflamed regret behind a mask of practised calm. Agni, this city could be tiring at times. "So," the former princess asked between bites, "Anything special planned at the library today?"
