Blushing with pride, Tanya straightened her dress and cleared her throat, preparing her voice. She'd have to sing it as a solo, which somehow still worked. "Well, actually, I have several--but there is one that's become rather meaningful for me... " Somewhere out there..."

As she finished John's smile couldn't be wider "Brava! Brava!"

((Aaargh, back. Again.))
Tanya couldn't suppress her own beaming smile as well, curtseying deeply and soaking up the praise. "Thank you, thank you! I've been practicing...I think it could really work out!"

"You're delightful" he replied after the clapping had sufficed and the children all ran off to tell their families about the nice lady who sang for them.

Tanya giggled, running a hand through her hair. "Thank you so much," she repeated, now excited about her possibilities. "I just know I can do it. Hey, it's even saved lives once before!"

"Really?" Now he was really interested, this girl was more than what she seemed and he was glad that he was letting her tell it instead of knowing all ready.

Naturally, Tanya was only to happy to relate her story, such as it was.
"Oh, yes. You see, it was an odd situation--there we were, in this frontier town under construction, and my family had settled down to sell violins, but then my singing caught the ear of the financial backer and owner of the whole place. I think he...um...liked me. To make a long story short, after I went onstage, it turned out he had a deathtrap, so I warned everyone by singing about it--he didn't want to hit me with it while I was singing, you see, and everyone got away."

John had leaned forward throughout the story with wide eyes "Wow, well good for you, and good for them" he smiled "I've always wondered, what's America like?"

"Thank you," Tanya replied again, practically blushing again. "As for America...it depends on which part. I didn't like New York so much--it was dark, crowded, it stank and people through fruit about me. Oh, and of course we were wrong about there being no cat--uh, but the West was really nice," she hastily added, remembering that it would seem odd for a human to worry about cats. "Lots of open space, but enough people around."

It wasn't as if he didn't catch the cat part, he just chose not to say anything about it.
"It sounds delightful" he dreamed before being pulled back in to reality "shall we start about that laundry then? If I don't get it started my girls are going to kill me.

That was a relief, at least. She didn't want to be taken for crazy.
"Oh, most definitely...ah! Right, then, of course," she replied responsibly, standing up straight and checking that her dress was straight. She'd done the laundry a hundred times before, this should be a breeze.

Nodding, he lead her toward the laundry room "Here we are, the hot water has all ready been poured in the tubs, now all we must do is start."

"Shouldn't be hard at all, with indoor plumbing," she commented, nodding as she rolled up her sleeves and prepared to get down to business.

"It's definitely a nice thing" he rolled his sleeves up as well "shall we then?"

"Let's." She turned towards the clothes, taking a stack which she placed next to her to begin work with. As she did so, she sang to herself some more.
