Well, it was another day, and as long as she was going to be here, Tanya thought she might as well explore. Today, she was directed not to the more expensive, tourist-friendly sections, or at least as tourist-friendly as they could be. Instead, she found her steps wandering off the beaten path, into the poorer quarters, the kind she was rather used to seeing in New York.
Soon, she paused, glancing around to see where she'd gotten to. Oh, that was nice; a homeless shelter? When she was from, the homeless were lucky if they could find shelter in flophouses for exorbitant rates, or the gutters. She noticed something moving, though, and turned. Oh, after all it was just some fellow sitting there. "Good morning," she called, fairly cheerfully.

John looked up and smiled "And a delightful morning to you as well mademoiselle!"

He seemed nice enough, anyway...she got the feeling that he was the one in charge here, then.
Just to make conversation, she glanced up at the building. "How are things?"

"Full and that's unfortunate" he smiled "but at least there here and not freezing on the street" he walked toward the girl and extended a gloved hand "John Bristow."
((One thing I forgot to mention, John's a psychic and can tell everything about you through skin to skin contact, like how Rogue takes powers from people in the x-men. So he wears gloves most of the time.))

Tanya did reflect that it was ironic; this was one of few places where more clientele meant things were worse. Still, at least it was a nice effort for the city. She shook, rather delicately, and nodded her head courteously. "Tanya Mousekewitz. It's a pleasure, sir."
((Oh, interesting...almost like John Smith from The Dead Zone, too.))

"Delightful Ms. Mousekewitz, what brings you out on these freezing streets today?"
((A bit yea))

"Well, I thought I'd take a vacation. As to why I'm here in particular," she added, looking around, "I'm not sure. But it does look like a nice place."

John took a deep breath and smiled "We're very lucky to have such a nice neighborhood. Some places in Paris sadly, are nothing like this, dark and dingy, not a place one should wander on their own I assure you."

"Oh, I know about those," she commented, nodding--New York in 1885, for one thing, was largely an inner-city hellhole, with no safety regulations. "But at least someone's keeping it safe." In a moment, tired of walking, Tanya sat down on the steps as well. "Say...as long as I'm here, I'm going to need something to do while I'm not trying to get an audition. Do you, by any chance, need some help here?"

John grinned "We always need help here, are you familiar with washing laundry?"

Tanya had to laugh at that, shaking her head. "Oh, am I familiar with it? Until you've washed and hung out laundry in the middle of December in Malarus, you haven't lived."

John chuckled "I thought it was a silly question. Today's Friday, it's the day we do laundry, but my girls are out on a play day so I'm a little short handed."
((He's got two daughters, one genetic, one adopted and he takes care of another girl that he considers his daughter. He's only been on here for a couple months but all ready has a huge past, lol.))

Agreeably, Tanya nodded in response. "Ah, I see...yeah, I've had to do chores for my younger siblings before, anyway; I could certainly handle this." This was shaping up pretty decently, as well, and she might be able to get something done while not concentrating on her main objective.
((That is pretty quick--but so much the better.))

((I usually don't spend too much time, I used to RP on a board where we'd write over 1000 word posts and we'd spend almost a year on one plot. I've learned to move it along now, lol.))
He smiled "Wonderful, we don't get a lot of help around here."

"Well, glad I could do a little bit to make the place cleaner, and probably safer." She glanced around. "Paris is turning out to be...different than I expected, but it is at least not boring."
