"You seem to have some good ideas, too. I think it'd be good for France, especially since we kind of just had a revolution. Again. How many revolutions can one country have?"

"There was another revolution?" Billy asked. "Huh. You'd think it'd have been on the news... oh, wait."
Even when he'd been leaving, there were still some lingering tabloids about how Dr. Horrible had defeated Captain Hammer and killed Penny. She is NOT just "What's-her-name" or "Captain Hammer's girlfriend," he thought sourly before remembering his mental note to NOT remind himself of Penny.
...Frick.

Hallie shrugged. "Honestly, it might not have. It's hard to tell what the hell time period were in, sometimes."

"Really? Why would it be?"

"In this crackified universe, it was. At least in France."

Did Hallie just use the word "crack"? In the Internet way?
"Well I GUESS things would get kind of crazy, considering the state the world's in."

"The world has its problems. A lot of them have been gradually fixed over time, haven't they?"

"This is true," Aeris suddenly put in between bites of her food, "but look at those that have just gotten worse."
((Yes, I'm still here.))

"Well, it's always had problems, hasn't it? You may as well argue that we should all go back to being hunter-gatherers. Not that we wouldn't all starve if we did that. I think we should accept society for all its flaws, and do our best to improve it."

"Society wasn't too willing to change in Los Angeles," he scoffed, and then realized he'd said the actual name. "Uh--I mean, from what I've heard. On the news... ABOUT Los Angeles."
((RET-CON! He was LYING about his hometown before!))

"Well, it takes evolution. Speedy revolutions just lead to chaos. If you compare countries that made quick, radical changes to ones that reformed slowly, the general stability and standard of living favor the gradual stuff. Maybe our generation won't be perfect, but our grandchildren's might."
((YAY!))

"Yeah.... Well, I'll think about it." He could deal with slow-vs.-fast revolution once he got enough supplies, (wo)manpower, and stopped getting reminded every other day about Penny. "Rinoa, didn't you mention your mom was a singer?"

"Well," Rinoa said, taking a moment to adjust to the sudden topic shift. "You don't mince words when it comes to changing the subject. Ah, my mom was actually... more of a one-hit wonder. She used to be a lounge pianist, and she really only had the one hit song before... getting married and all that. It was before I was born, so yeah. Twenty-ish years tends to age famousness pretty thoroughly."
Also her mother had died before getting back into the music business, but she didn't feel like bringing that up.

"Aww... I'm sorry she never took off," he mumbled, not quite sure what else to say.

"On the bright side, not growing up while she was a hit made my childhood pretty normal, relatively speaking. So things turned out okay!"
((If we just decided not to say anything about Rinny's mom being dead, Billy could find out later and be all "OH MY GOD I'M SO SORRY FOR REACTING IN SUCH A BLAND MANNER :*(".))
