"I'd like that," Castiel replied solemnly.
Who knew? Insights other than his own might lead to something... and even if they didn't, he was glad for the company.

"Glad we're all purposefully getting along," Eddie said with a grin, filling up their glasses once more.
"Reminds me of that time that that crazy bastard Hannibal tried to cross the Alps with elephants. Not great skiers, elephants. More inclined to windsurfing, I believe. But it sure was fun."
Well, it had been to Eddie... he'd suggested the elephants.

"Oh? From the sound it, it seems like he failed."
She looked thoughtful for a moment.
"Not well-supplied, I suspect."

"Oh no, he managed it. Slaughtered a bunch of people right and proper afterwards. It was just hilarious to watch."
He chuckled.
"As for supplies... I guess they could have eaten the elephants, in a real tight pinch."

Margrethe wasn't really sure what an elephant was, but the thought of eating an unknown animal made her wrinkle her nose in distaste.
"Would they even taste good?"

"Sure, elephants are made of treacle," Eddie replied with a little throwaway gesture.
It wasn't true, but that had never bothered him.

And what is treacle? She wanted to ask, but she was afraid of bombarding him with too many questions.
"I prefer cattle, if I'm to eat anything."

"Steak for the lady, hm? I like that, a woman who knows how to handle her meat." He winked at her, then looked at Castiel.
"What about you, angel? Did you pick up on the earthly delight that is food?" Angels and gods usually didn't need to eat in the way humans did... but it sure could be pleasurable.

"It is not necessary for angels to eat," Castiel replied gruffly. "You know that."

"Who cares about necessary? Some of the things they've thought up here are delicious! Ain't I right, love?" Eddie looked at the wannabe Valkyrie for backup on this one.

"Oh, yes. But certainly, Castiel, you'd be willing to try?"
Eddie was rather fun to be around. Nothing like what she expected, but then, would a trickster god ever be?

He'd intended to say 'no'. Picking up these mortal habits could be of no use to an angel of the Lord, a possible distraction at most.
Then why did Castiel find himself nodding at Margrethe?

She smiled at him.
"Well, I know the best place to start: dessert."

Eddie smiled quietly to himself and gestured over one of those... desert-providing people. What did you call them again? Those people who served you at restaurants, bars and the like over here? Ah, yes...
"Oh, actor..."

Didn't he mean something else? Actors didn't...
Don't question the trickster god.
No. Of course not.
"I like apples in dessert."
