"Really? That's fairly fascinating." She said sincerely.
"Oh, yes, please."
When was the last time she'd had a good drink? One that wasn't water or squeezed out of a fruit?
"Do you know more about that strangeness?"

Eddie poured her a more than generous amount of wine, serious people often got more fun when drunk.
"I happen to know a fair lot about strangeness, my dear. 'Strange' could have been my middle name... but right now it's 'John'." He winked at her, then looked to Castiel again.
"Do drink up, angel... you're lagging behind."

While he, quite sensibly, didn't really trust the god, Castiel did down his drink, only to have Eddie refill his glass the second it hit the table.
"Thank you," he said gruffly, hoping they'd make it out of here without too big a disaster happening. Obviously, he could have gone off on his own, but he didn't want to leave Margarethe at the 'mercy' of this trickster.

Margrethe gratefully took a hearty drink, smiling at Eddie and unaware of the undercurrents that Castiel was keeping watch for.
"Oh, I can only imagine what strange things you've seen." She said.
"I know you are not a warrior god, but perhaps...there is something you could help me with."
She took a deep breath.
"I am trying to become a Valkyrie, but the instructions on how that I found are rather vague."

((I'm just gonna throw this in here because it fits the current "big" plotline. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) )) "A Valkyrie? Really? Strange ambition to have, my lovely. It's a bit like being the eternal designated driver... taking everyone to the party without getting much partying done yourself." Eddie laughed, taking a sip of his own wine. "But if you really want to..." He leaned back, making a few little 'dududu' sounds and tapping his fingers together as he thought. "Word of Odin, that would be the strongest bet. Worked for Brunnhilde. Lovely lass, thighs that could snap a man in half. Ah, good times... she might be able to help out as well, actually. Last time I heard she was the leader of the Valkyries. Not sure where she is now, though. The militant sort, so might be at some just war or another. Beyond that... get one of Odin's boys to pull some strings?"

She was listening intently.
"Of course...but how would I meet such people? I am only a mortal. Where on earth could I find someone like Odin or Thor?"

"Oh, you'd be surprised." Eddie chuckled and supplied the three of them with more wine.
"From what I've heard through the good old grapevine, it's pretty much Asgardian Spring Break right now. Except with more intrigue and plotting, and less beads and women."
Those guys were weird like that.

"Oh? Are they congregating somewhere?"
A very intriguing thought, but it wasn't strange to hear of gods meddling in the affairs of mortals. It happened often.

"It certainly seems that way. I don't have all the details just yet, but hang around for a while and I shall see how I can help you two lovely creatures."
He wasn't quite ready to give up on suspicious angelboy just yet.

"All right. I shall do that." She said, her demeanour a bit happier.

To say that Castiel seemed less than pleased would have been an understatement, but at the same time... it wasn't as if he truly had anything else to do. Margrethe would need someone to protect her from the old god and his doubtlessly shifty intentions. Castiel was already there and, well, he could use the distraction.
Besides, she seemed happier now.
The angel sort of liked that.

"Splendid!" Eddie said with a grin when no objection came from their more silent conversation partner.
"Then we shall need some more wine."

"Of course!" She said, raising her empty glass.
She glanced over at Castiel.
"Now I have a direction to follow."

Castiel nodded. At least there was that.
He wasn't sure whether it was a good direction, but for now Margrethe looked happy... or happier... which, perhaps strangely due to the very short time they'd known each other, seemed to matter.
"It certainly seems so," he replied with what might have been the beginnings of a smile on his normally serious face.

Margrethe, who also tended toward seriousness, allowed herself to smile in return.
"Maybe I can help you find one for yourself." She said sincerely.
He'd helped her immensely, it was only fair to do so in return.
