*Valmont entered with his habitual aplomb. Surely, somewhere in this godforsaken town was a woman who didn't want to argue with him before taking her clothes off.*

((You know they have a long and glorious future together of heated arguments followed by uberhawtness. I believe the Draco/HermioneHarry shippers said it best: "Mortal enemies have the hottest sex."))

*Dia gasped as a man rubbed himself against her in a far too friendly fashion. She had only come to collect some spare materials for the Opera but had found herself in this room. She couldn't imagine Vienna mixing with these men. It was shocking, they were so uncouth.*
"No, sorry Sir."
*She pleaded politely with a rather elderly man with wandering hands.*
"I'm not that girl."

*Contrary to all his best intentions, the first girl to catch his eye was not one of the scarlet-clad harpies who graced the Moulin, but a rather vague slip of a girl who was currently being inexpertly harassed. Valmont sighed. It was his duty to see the job done properly.*
"Excuse me sir," *he said smoothly, inserting himself into the conversation.* "I believe this young lady is here on business with me."
*He offered the girl his arm and a pointed look which promised rescue.*

*The man who approached seem younger than the others and better dressed. Dia gladly took his arm and let him led her away.*
"Thank you, he wouldn't leave be."
*She smiled gratefully up at him.*

"Most reprehensible behavior, mademoiselle," *Valmont murmured as he led her away.* "Though in truth, I cannot fault his eye for picking you out, brutish as his attentions might be."

*Diamanta flushed scarlet.* "Oh sir..." *No one had ever paid her much attention before, let alone a gentleman.*

"Come now," *Valmont said gently.* "Has no one ever told you how lovely you are?"
*He looked around.*
"Let me buy you a drink. Something to refresh you before you go on your way."

*Diamanta supposed it would do not harm. She was not expected back that evening in any case. Besides, it was hardly like she had much to go back to.*
"Yes...I suppose"
*She replied, cursing her nervousness and lack of good breeding.*

"Delightful," *Valmont murmured. No argument from this creature--it was beneath him, but an easy seduction might be just what he needed to get himself back on track.
No one need ever know.
He led the girl to a table, and pulled out her chair.*
"Pardon me, mademoiselle, but I do not even know your name. I am Sebastian de Valmont, at your service."

"Diamanta Dubois. It is a pleasure to meet you Mr Valmont."
*She blushed and looked down at her hands.*

"The pleasure is mine," *he said, raising his hand.* "Now, about that drink."
*A waiter appeared and disappeared again after a murmured consultation. In less than a minute, given Valmont's reputation, the drinks appeared. Valmont raised his glass.*
"To fair maidens, requiring rescue," *he said.* "It seems chivalry need not die."

*Diamanta giggled softly. She lifted the glass with his and then drank. She had never tasted alchohol before, it warmed her obligingly.*
"I used to dream of that as a girl, princesses and knights on horseback."
*She reddened further.*
"Sorry, I'm being silly."

*Valmont smiled lazily.*
"Not at all, Mademoiselle Dubois. One must merely readjust one's perceptions; it is possible knights still exist. Merely in altered form."
