Magenta was lonely. She had lost both of her 'sisters', and her poor husband seemed take with grief over them. Their children had never come to life, and for all the glamor associated with being a vampire bride, it could get boring to stay at home while her husband terrorized the world.
All she really had to do was lounge around the mansion in revealing lingerie, eating chocolates and reading the minds of the slaves (it wasn't much, but it was the closest thing they had to soap operas.)

West could only consider it Providence smiling down on him when he had received that letter from the Sorbonne dropping an anonymous tip that there was another scientist in Paris studying the same subject West himself had devoted his academic career to- the reanimation of dead tissue.
He had studied the Swiss gentleman's efforts, however, and could only smirk in slight scorn. Any fool could use electricity, but putting together the proper solution of chemicals- now that demanded skill.
(Never mind that they tended to come back psychopathic.)
He had decided, nevertheless, that if there were two of them working at it at once, there would be at least a small percentage less of a chance that there would be a nasty ending possibly involving a windmill, which was why he was approaching Frankenstein's manor with his kit in one hand and his qualifications in the other.
Because of this, he had to use his foot to knock on the door.

Of course, it wasn't Frankenstein's mansion, but he did work there.
Magenta went to get the door herself, having nothing better to do. She opened the door, clad in fishnets and a flimsy robe.
"Hello..."

"Hello," West said briskly. "I'm looking for a Dr...."
His voice trailed off and he raised an eyebrow.

*Leads him to a room where she keeps all the other mad scientists who come by*
Magenta was struck by the sight of the man- one of the few non-dead, non-brooding types she'd seen in a while.
"Frankenstein?"

"That would be him," he said, nodding.

"He does not live here, but my husband and I are his employers."

"I see," he said, looking around in slight disdain. "Do you know when he'll be in?"

"I was under the impression that he and I are in the same..."
He paused.
"Line of work."

Magenta appeared more interested now.
"Raising the dead?"

"Why, yes," he said, surprised that she knew- and said it so plainly.

She smiled brightly (and genuinely).
"How vonderful! Frankenstein has been rather moody lately, having trouble vith his personal life. If you are in the market, ve could use another man."
