*****CONTINUED FROM THIS THREAD sueniverse.proboards106.com/index.cgi?board=lorien&action=display&thread=4806&page=1#233606***** The two elves Wild and Leetah walked into the Elven Kingdom of Lorien. This was a warm, gentle and peaceful place, far away from the sorrow and troubles everywhere else in the world. Everything was bathed in a shimmering light, to ease the burdens for those who were sad of heart or had troubled minds. This was the healer elf Leetah's masterpiece: A place where one could find peace. Here everything was quiet, except for soft music, played silently, soothing, but not disturbing. There were tiny houses here, with soft beds for those who needed rest. There were plenty of food and drink here for those who were hungry or thirsty. If Paradise had existed anywhere on earth, it would have been here.

Tsume stepped through the portal into the new place, checking for anything unusual--which there wasn't.
"Kiba? Helen? You all right?"

Helen looked around in awe, admiring the new place, the shimmering lights, the soft music.... she felt a peace here that she had not felt in ages. She felt how her body relaxed, and she wrapped her arms around Kiba and hugged him in pure joy of just being here with him.
"I'm all right. How about you, my friends?"

This place was pleasant, but that was all Kiba bothered to think about it. It was separate--like an island. Paradise needed no separation from the world; it was the world. Or it would have been.
There had been a moment, as he sank deeper into the melting ice-water, when the first raindrops started falling and the voice stopped urging him on to say: You have found it.
"I'm fine," he answered.

Helen smiled and caressed Kiba's fur gently. She felt the raindrops as well, and since she was dressed in white, it would not be good if her dress got wet. ((Since wet, white dresses are easy to see through.))
"Oooh, I'm getting soaked," she laughed.
The two elves Leetah and Wild turned to the wolves and the human and smiled.
"Would the three of you share a house, or do you wish one house each?"
Helen looked over at Kiba and Tsume, wanting them to reply.

Kiba was brought out of his thoughts by an actual rain, and he resisted the urge to shake the water off.
This was an ordinary rain in an ordinary place, and the slightly-damp feeling only made him more irritated.
"We don't need houses," Tsume answered the Elves. "Even if we liked being walled up, Kiba would still sleep outside to make sure nobody gets into Helen's place."

Wild smiled and looked over at the wolves.
"We would never wall up anyone against their wishes. We are not wolfriders. We are High Elves. And we rank higher than the Wolfriders. That is why that elf who shot Helen didn't dare to attack me when I challenged her. I am a Black Magic shaman, and she would be unwise to wake my wrath. I can do things to her that isn't very... pleasant. You three have nothing to fear. As long as you are here, you are under our protection. No magic will do you harm."
She opened up a nice house on the ground, so Helen could come and go as she liked.
"There are food and drink inside, and for the wolves there are enough of food in the forest. The river that runs by this house is pure, and is safe to drink from. The rain will stop any moment now, and the night will be warm and dry. Leetah and I will leave you now, but we live nearby. If you need us, all you have to do is howl."
Leetah and Wild smiled friendly and retreated, leaving the wolves and the human alone. The rain stopped exactly when Wild had said it would stop, and soon the evening sun was shining perfectly again.

Neither wolf bothered to distinguish between the different kinds of elves--all they acknowledged was that Wildfeather and Leetah were higher-ranking than the Wolfriders, so they'd be fine.
Tsume shrugged. "Fine by us. It's not like we need protection, anyway."
He headed to the river, lapping up some of the water before returning to lie down near the entrance to Helen's place.

Helen climbed off Kiba's back and hugged him gently.
"Thank you, Kiba. Without you and Tsume, I doubt I would have made it this far. I wonder if Menelaus will find us here. The elves said nothing magic would harm us. It doesn't exclude non-magical persons or things."

"Tsume and I can take care of anyone," Kiba told her. "Magic or none, everything dies if we bite it hard enough. You have nothing to worry about."
He dropped his disguise and went to the left side of Helen's door, turning in circles a few times before lying down.

In the distance, a canine figure weaved fluidly in and out among the trees of the forest.

Tsume raised his head upon hearing a distant noise.
Just my luck. Kiba's crazy enough as it is--if he hears whatever idiot's making that noise, he's going to hunt him out and kill him no matter how harmless he is. If it's a wolf, we'll have another pack out for our blood...
His luck was worse than he thought, as Kiba had detected the sound around the same time and was staring in the creature's direction.
"Stay here, Kiba. If you don't, I swear I'll bite you." The gray wolf headed into the forest, raising his head to try and catch a scent.

Devon slowed in his tracks to lift his head into the air and sniffed gently.
There were others.

Starmane and her wolf appeared from the shadows. She was bleeding strongly from a bite wound in her shoulder, and the wolf that was following her, was limping. She looked up at Devon, happy to see him again.

Devon's gaze shifted quickly to the wounded Starmane. His expression became a strange concoction of fear and pain and horror, which ultimately gave way to fury.
"What happened?" he demanded.
