Hazel giggled too, then she had to ask.
"Why does it loosen up my jaw and tongue to make funny faces?"
It was no mocking or attempt to be funny in the question. She was truly interested in learning as much as she could.

Isa stopped playing and smiled "Well when you pull on your face like this" she grabbed her cheeks and moved them around "it softens the muscles so you're mouth doesn't get tired as quickly."

Hazel smiled and nodded.
"That is very smart. I take it the younger you are when you start practicing like this, the stronger your muscles become so you won't tire quickly?"

Hazel giggled.
"I should have a strong face then. During the inspections at the orphanage we used to make faces at the adults as soon as they were done hitting us and had left the room."

Isa smiled sadly "You have a very strong face" and it wasn't the muscles she was talking about. There was so much hope and maturity in the young girls face, Isa almost couldn't understand it.
"Okay so how about we do a song before I take you home hrm?"

Hazel beamed with joy.
"Thank you," she replied. "I would love to do a song. Which one should we sing?"

"Okay hold on a second" Isa thought for a moment and smiled "back where I came from I was a big fan of what we called swing music, and one of my favorite singers was Frank Sinatra and there was a song he redid from the original that always made me smile, so follow along with me as I sing okay?"
Isa grinned and began to play a tune on the piano.
"That certain night, the night we met There was magic abroad in the air There were angels dining at the ritz And a nightingale sang in Berkley Square I may be right, I may be wrong, But I'm perfectly willing to swear, That when you turned and smiled at me, A nightingale sang in Berkley Square. The moon that lingered over London town, Poor puzzled moon, he wore a frown How could he know we two were so in love, The whole darn world seemed upside down. The streets of town were paved with stars, It was such a romantic affair. And as we kissed and said goodnight, A nightingale sang in Berkley Square."

Hazel smiled warmly.
"That was a beautiful song, thank you for singing it for me."
She said quietly.
"I don't know if I can sing it as well as you, but I'll try."
She took a deep breath, tried to remember everything that Isa had told her. Then she started singing.
Isa clapped "That was wonderful, you definitely don't have the voice for swing but it was still beautiful" Isa stood up and stretched "what do you say about getting something for dinner?"

Hazel brightened up and curtsied when Isa clapped.
"Thank you. If I may ask, what kind of songs would you say I have the voice for? I-I mean, if I have a singing voice?"
She smiled and looked up at Isa again.
"And I would love to get something for dinner. Thank you so much. It is very kind of you to do all this for me, and I am eternally in your debt."

"Opera" she nodded before stretching her back "and you aren't in my debt, don't you ever think that, I'm doing this for John and because you have a rare talent I don't see in kids here, come on, let's go."

Hazel beamed with joy wrapped her arms against Isa, hugging her.
"Oh thank you!!!"
She followed Isa out of the room, ready to go where ever Isa wanted.
