Nessa was indeed showing Midna the way through the village. Soon they came to a treehouse, located in a strong oak tree. Nessa leaned her head back and looked up.
"Ahhh, to bad. The lights are off. Wild is not home. Why is it that you don't want to get too close to the white magic?"

Well, the treehouse thing wasn't really so bad. She rather liked forests--they tended to have deep shadows--and she'd seen stranger homes before, anyway.
Seeing that, she frowned, and swore under her breath. "Uh, well, let's just say that the last time I was exposed to holy light, it...didn't go so well."

Nessa looked over at her and smiled gently.
"Holy light? White magic? Oh dear. There is one thing I can tell you after being raised at the castle, and playing with the shaman of White Magic: There is White Magic that can do good, and White Magic that can harm. On the other side there are Black Magic that can harm and Black Magic that can do good. The ways the magic is used depends on the person that controls the magic, how noble he or she is."
Nessa smiled gently.
"So if you had an encounter with white magic, it might be worth looking into if the person who used it on you had a noble soul."

Midna's smile in return was a little awkward, but she nodded in return to that with a shrug.
"I guess so...I certainly can agree with the latter. But, you see, my circumstances are a little different, because of what I am." She looked around and sighed, even chuckling a tad bitterly at the last part. "Yeah, well...not exactly. Huh...you know, we've got some time before this Wild shows up, I imagine, so...if you want I can tell you the whole story about that, too."

((I can't resist the temptation to leave you one reply for the road before I go))
Nessa smiled and stroke Midna's hair gently.
"I would love to hear your story. You are a very interesting person, Midna. You fascinate me."

((I'm back again--yay!)) Sighing, she sat down on anything handy, most likely another stump, and stretched as Nessa brushed her hair kindly. "Well, alright...but you might want to sit, too, because it's probably going to be a long one. "So...yes. Perhaps I had better start with the story of my ancestors..."

((Welcome back. Sorry for being absent. My internet has been non-existent this weekend be cause of a storm.))
Nessa smiled warmly and sat down next to Midna, waiting patiently for the princess to tell her story. She looked forward to hear about Link's involvement in this. He had never told her about other girlfriends, and man, did he have some explaining to do when he got back!
"Please take the time you need. I love to hear stories about other worlds."

((Ah...I understand totally. Thanks for the welcome.))
Looking down, and gently leaning back, she nodded. "Well, alright...
"Eons ago, the Goddesses created the world, and in doing so they forged the Triforce, an object of pure energy that grants the true desires of any who hold it. To prevent this from falling into the wrong hands, they sealed it away in the Golden Realm. But even then, there were some whose ambitions knew no bounds, and finding a way in, these Dark Interlopers used the Fused Shadow to attempt to steal the Triforce. In return, the Light Spirits banished them to the Twilight Realm. But they survived; indeed, they prospered.
"We are the Twili. Descendants of these power-hungry sorcerers, we have adapted to life in an eternal twilight, and so our appearance has changed, as indeed has our language. But we're not evil! As a matter of fact, in my Twilight Realm all things were pure and peaceful, and the world held the gentle beauty of dawn and dusk. Our rulers are appointed by the people and sanctioned by the priests. It was a perfect system..."

Nessa smiled and listened to the story with interest. She discovered many similiarities to the Elves and the Elven world. But one of Midna's words made Nessa ask a question.
"Was a perfect system? What happened?"

"Well, yeah. Was. But there's always someone who's determined to get power no matter what, isn't there?" She sighed again, gazing off into the distance. "That man was Zant. A servant of the royal family. As he had some seniority, he would have been the next in line chosen for the throne, but fortunately, everyone saw just how crazy he was. So, I got to be chosen instead. He didn't much like that."

***NEW DAY***
Normally Tsume wasn't the type to go off on his own, but Kiba's growing instability was wearing on his nerves, and having to constantly keep the white wolf in check made him wonder (again) just what exactly he'd been through to turn out this way. Also, he'd been hunting for a few hours and the most he'd gotten was a bird, so he wasn't feeling too cheerful.
A familiar scent drifted over as he traveled through--that princess chick who'd pissed Kiba off a few days ago.
"...Why not? I'm tired." He sat down a distance from the tree she was in (since Kiba wasn't here, she might project any leftover anger onto him) and called. "Oi! Princess!"

Midna sat with her back to the wall in her treehouse, bored and a bit annoyed. Sure, she'd managed to improve her situation, but things were still not working out as quickly or as well as she'd have preferred, and there was still the whole issue of having had to abandon her entire plans for love. That hurt.
Honestly, she wasn't expecting any visitors today, not that she got very many in general, so hearing someone call to her, much less addressing her by her proper title, rather startled her. Then she realized who it was, and rolled her eyes gently. That other wolf...well, he'd better have something good to say, I guess.
"What? What do you want?" she called back, appearing at the doorway.

"Nothing, really," he told her (though without his usual careless tone). "I was hunting and I got tired. For a place that looks better than our frozen deathtrap of a home, it doesn't have a lot of prey. They must be scared off by all the magic here."

Midna was surprised by the lack of flippancy in his voice, and leaned against the door to listen. "Ah...I see." Wolves had to hunt, after all. "This is an odd place," she observed, frowning about at all the vegetation. "I do get to see a lot of animals, but they always seem to disappear when I get closer. Maybe they're scared of me?" she mused.
Realizing that it was annoying to shout down to him, Midna levitated down to the ground next to him.

"Or maybe it's because of all the things that live here," he mused. "Pretty much everything's tried to attack us at some point, so I wouldn't blame smaller animals for taking cover if they catch scent of anything close to a predator. They probably think I'm some loser who got kicked out of my pack, too."
