He hated her, of course, because she was about the kill herself with this joker, who wasn't even actually from Italy.
But maybe it was for the best, he thought. Maybe she should save herself from the endless angst of being a human in love with a vampire, light attempting to kiss darkness, the lion and the lamb. Maybe he should save himself the headache of fending off her lusty feminine wiles and her insatiable desire to become perfect and immortal and perhaps less unequal to him.
He sighed, his breath smelling of violets and honey and deep despair.

"Am I really so repulsive?" Bella wailed. "Can't you even answer my question?" She turned to Pavi. "Can't he see I need him? Oh Pavi, where would I be without you to comfort me in this time of need?"
She tried to fling herself into Pavi's arms, but tripped on the way--impressive considering he was a few inches away.

Pavi made a... well, a valiant effort, he supposed, at looking like he'd attempted to catch her.

She was a fool, and had no idea what he was or what he meant to her eventual demise.
She was perfect in every respect, and Edward clenched his fists hard enough to shatter marble, only not the sort he was analogous to or that would have been very messy.
He groaned under his breath at her alluring clumsiness and rooted himself to the biology stool, hanging onto the bottom with his hands as if he was about to lift off.
"Just go," he growled. "I'll bring you nothing but misery. Misery! And sexual frustration, and an appalling family whose perfection would only make you seem even more inadequate, to the point where you can't imagine what someone like me sees in someone so insignificant."

Pavi tucked a hand under Bella's chin and started cooing to her in Italian.

"I like misery," Bella wailed in anguished.
Meanwhile she winked at Pavi even though she had no idea what he was saying.
"I want to marry misery and have its babies eat their way out of my abdomen!"

Draco sauntered into Biology.
Or anyway he was trying to saunter. He'd lost much sauntering skills in the past oh, year and a half with a Dark Lord and all, and he badly did not want anyone to know.
He was turning over a new leaf. Possibly also a new forest. Anyway, here No One Knew. It was a new and different school, and he was not at all scared or scarred or wild-eyed and would not ever be controlled by anyone again. He was strong and could stand for himself and also he could saunter.
He looked around eagerly for someone to prove all this to.

"You're late." *Said Adrienne to Draco from behind the large desk (it made her look small), looking bored and like she wasn't going to do much about it. She'd just gotten to some of the nastier hexes in her book, which she was stroking down the side because it growled menacingly when she didn't. It appeared to currently be purring.*
Please tell me you're not going to be as psychotic as these three.

Bella's words filled Edward with a warm, paternal glow he immediately disregarded as some sort of cougar-related indigestion.
"You shouldn't even think such things," he said sternly. "It will only ruin you. Your perfect, almost-translucent skin will fade to... something even paler, your fresh, innocent, completely personality-less naivete will give way to personality-less bitchery, and I feel certain this can only end with me walking out into the sun."
Which would do nothing, of course, but make him cast rainbows of delight from the diamond prism of his skin, but whatever.

"I'm here now," Draco said, very brightly, with a Winning Smile Pansy Had Told Him Was Loserly But What Did She Know And Anyway, It Was All He Had. "And I'm very eager to learn...er..." He double checked his schedule. "Biology. Yes, the study of life and--prawns and things, no doubt, and I have all my textbooks, as you see here, and--I'll sit down now."
He went over to a desk right in front and sat down, reminding himself that if he was to Prove Himself To Everyone he must not babble. He took out some quills and parchment so that he seemed eager to begin, but reminded himself also not to exhibit all his other supplies so as not to seem too eager. Then he began writing so that the Very Stern lady would see that he was industrious.
He titled the parchment, "To Do" and wrote, "1. Don't act strange" at the top in very neat script.

Brightening, Bella turned to Pavi. "Cool, can we get a tent? Just the three of us . . . in the wilderness . . . me being ruined . . . half freezing to death . . ."

*She raised a dark eyebrow and smiled a little before shrugging.*
"Hey, I'm just the sub, and it appears to be we have a raving poser Italian giving a career presentation and hitting on students. Unless you're a werewolf or a Veela and I haven't been informed, I'm not worried." *She was pretty sure the pale reddish-haired boy was a vampire, and she couldn't even TRY to guess what Pavi was but he was terrifying and his face was not right.*

"Insane Italians?" Draco perked with interest. "I've known one or two." He looked around. Saw Pavi. Was no longer perked.
He . . . no longer had much interest in following around raving poseurs whose faces were not right. Been there. Done that.
Feeling unsettled, he turned back to the substitute. "And I'm not any of those things, anyway. I'm a Malfoy."
At one time, that would have been saying everything, but now it sounded a little lame.

*She examined Pavi again, and decided he made her decidedly nervous, and as bad of a teacher as it made her she was glad he was hitting on the pale girl (it appeared everyone in this entire class was severely allergic to sun) instead of herself.*
"Was that an introduction or a definition?" *She'd been in society long enough to know there was a difference. As soon as it was out she was an Enjolras, in Muggle social circles, suddenly everyone was different to her. In Magical ones, they tended to just shrug and move on. One of the things she liked about here.*
*Also, she recognized the name, but she was French, and English families did not interest her in the slightest.*
