*She leaned against the wall, taking Adi's hand*
"It's good to have someone here I can talk to."

*She patted Johanna's hand awkwardly. She wasn't good at this whole friends thing.*
"The same to you."

*Anastasia, guiding Sorelli to a chair, sat nearby and started combing through her long hair. Sorelli, catching the conversation, mumbled*
"No one is coming for me. I'm lost."
"Don't say that," Anastasia said, patting her arm. "If we can formulate a way of escape, then you are coming with us."
*She glanced at Johanna and Adrienne*
"I have a feeling money wouldn't dissuade this king. We may have to fight to actually leave."

Esmeralda gazed wide-eyed around her, holding tight to Djali. She didn't have anyone coming for her. And she wasn't a fighter. All she knew was dancing. She wasn't prepared for this!
And, as a gypsy, she noted, the others who were "real" ladies weren't so interested in her as each other.

((Awwww. Poor Esmeralda *hugs*))
Lady Éowyn felt she didn't have much in common with the other ladies. They were from other countries and another time than her. She looked around, and noticed the poor little gipsy girl with the goat. She looked so lonely. Lady Éowyn came over to her with a friendly smile, speaking calm and quietly to her.
"We were pulled away before we got the chance to talk earlier. My name is Éowyn of Rohan. What is your name?"

Esmeralda looked up.
"Esmeralda," she said.

Éowyn smiled warmly and offered her hand in a greeting.
"You have a beautiful name. I'm glad to make your aquaintance, even though I wish it could have happened under merrier circumstances."

Esmeralda took her hand, as if she didn't know what to do with it.
"What's going to happen to us?"

Éowyn continued to hold the poor girl's hand, hoping to give her at least some safety in this new and strange place.
"I suspect they will try to doll us up like tiny princesses, give us food and drink, and then throw themselves over us like a horde of mad beasts. It's a stroke of luck that I know how to use a sword. If I only can get hold of one - my own sword is at home in Paris."

"But I'm a good girl!" Esmeralda cried softly. "And I don't know how to use a sword."

Éowyn placed her arm around Ésmeralda's shoulder, trying to comfort her.
"Don't be afraid. You are indeed a good girl. If there is fighting to be done, stick to me. I will protect you. I am a shield maid in my own country, well trained in the use of a sword."

Esmeralda seemed impressed, through her fear.
"Really?" she said. "Well... thank you."

Éowyn smiled warmly.
"No need to thank me. I haven't had a chance to do anything yet. But as soon as I get an opportunity, I will."

Esmeralda smiled timidly at Eowyn, glad someone had offered to protect her. Her eyes slid over to the food.
"Do you think it would be all right if we ate, first?"

Éowyn smiled, and looked over at the food.
"I think they would try to stop us if we don't wash and change clothes first. But don't worry. I'm a good fighter no matter what clothes I wear."
She stood and offered Esmeralda a helping hand.
"Let's try to find two beds next to each other. It's easier for me to protect you if I am near you. Where do you want to sleep?"
