Having finished with the rabbit, leaving nothing more than a few clumps of fur and minuscule scraps of meat, Kiba stretched and resumed his human form. Her sudden awkwardness showed that she was one of the many humans who thought animals--wild animals, at least--had no real emotions.
He found it strange that humans were so selective about things; their precious dogs were perfectly capable of love, protectiveness, and other "real" emotions--yet their predecessors, wolves, were viewed as mindless killing machines who only felt pain and hate. He'd recently wanted to ask someone how, if that was the case, the ability to feel emotions could spring from nothing.
"Since we have nothing else to talk about--or I don't--you should probably be leaving. Unless you want to stay at the inn?"

Of course, Sapphire had always had problems of empathy, even with other humans. Perhaps, though, it came, too, from how she had been raised...though she couldn't blame everything on that. Having not had any pets, she didn't know how their own emotions might be, either, but she did have a few theories, anyway.
"Er, as a matter of fact I was just about to pack up my things, but, well, perhaps I'll stay. What is this inn nearby, anyway?"

"Le Rouge et L'Epine. Keep going straight until you get to it," Kiba answered, dropping his disguise and heading off.

***NEW DAY***
Rin sighed, finally deciding to sit down and take a load off her feet. Resting in the shade of a large ash tree, she set a rough wooden bentô box in her lap and opened it for her lunch.
She rather liked the woods, having found them quickly enough in her brief stay in Paris, and she glanced around her as she sucked at the yolk of a large egg. Naturally, she hadn't heard of anyone or anything in the area, and wasn't suspicious--though it was doubtful she'd be kept away even if she was.

How many things get the bright idea to wander into the territory, again? Tsume thought with a grumble. Kiba mentioned that they were NOT allowed to attack intruders, since Brandi had a thing for letting strangers come in and mooch off of her (his words, not Kiba's). It was one thing to leave extra food for whoever wanted it, but humans' tendency to take everything in was kind of confusing.
Not a deer... he sniffed. Not a rabbit... not a bird... She's probably eating the eggs, then. Bet she looks human.
His thoughts were confirmed upon finding her, and he took on his human illusion before coming up beside her. "Hey. You passing through here?"

To Rin's particular breed of animals--and of spirits--territory was something that was quite visible. You planted banners, signs, spies if necessary. You did not rely on scent. In truth, though she could smell something vague, Rin didn't even consider it relevant, nor did she expect any trouble from eating here.
She sighed gently, finishing her egg, and lifting another one just as she did catch the scent of something odd, and looked up sharply. "Hmm? Well, yes, I am. That a problem?" she asked with trademark spunk, 'casually' uncrossing her long legs.

"Long as you aren't mooching off anything, I'm fine," Tsume told her. "If you ran into my alpha, though, I don't think he'd like it. He's run into one too many things here, and his 'Things that piss me off' list has a lot more than just humans now."
While Brandi was the technical alpha in terms of territory, he assumed that as long as the wolves didn't mess things up too much, they could do whatever they wanted. Therefore, Kiba was Tsume's real alpha.
"So. You new here?"

Rin nodded, though she had to look down to bite into the egg in order to conceal that she was rolling her eyes. Please. Pack structure--she could understand it, and appreciate it, but that was no reason for the alphas (as the more primitive term went) to be just jerks about it.
Of course she didn't intend to trespass, either; she was just passing through briefly, and anyway would probably arrive at the owner's. But whatever for now.
"Yeah, just arrived. Bet you could tell." She glanced down, as she was still wearing her pink suikan work outfit from the bathhouse, having no other clothes. He'd doubtless notice that besides her own scent, it smelled of other species as well.

"He's not usually like that," Tsume said, catching the almost-hidden disdain through her chewing. "Don't get me wrong--he's been an uptight mess even before he got here, but you'd be too if you were a wolf who's been alone for most of his life."
He stretched for a moment, then went on. "Never got why humans like that idea so much. Disaster's guaranteed with a real lone wolf."

"Mm?" Rin replied through a mouthful, looking up at that. She swallowed, and sighed, stretching a little herself. "Well...I guess that does sort of make up for it. I mean, it must be tough, if you're wired to work with a group, but don't have one," she mused.
"What's more, beats me. I have no idea why humans do half the things they do, anyway, and I don't expect them to understand me, personally." She'd just given herself away as a nonhuman, but she figured he could probably tell that anyway. In a moment, she looked up. "So, um, anything around here?"

"Eh... something called an inn," Tsume answered. "Apparently he was so out of it that he shacked up with the first people that didn't get on his nerves--it probably helps that there are dog pups here, so they're close enough to wolves even if they'll never really grow out of some things. If you need a place to stay, the humans nearby are the last people who'll kick you out."

Rin groaned, rolling her eyes. "Oh, believe me, I know what an inn is." Indeed she did--she had the calluses and bruises to prove it. "Well, I guess that's a good enough reason," she shrugged, and finished up what she was eating with a sigh. She rather liked dogs, too, at least when they weren't growling at her. "If they don't bother you, why not? Huh. I guess I should probably find somewhere to sleep, though, so that's as good as any other."

"It's not that far," Tsume told her. "Just turn right and keep going till you get there."

Snapping the box closed and standing up again, Rin sighed and brushed one lock of hair out of her face. "I guess I could stay there for a while, then," she decided. "Might be nice to be waited on myself, for once. Oh, but I might add, truthfully, I'm not in a terribly good mood. I've had to walk this far, I'm cold and I'm tired. Nobody better get in my way, territory or not," she added with a snort.
((Heh, now to maybe P.O. Kiba.))

"Hmph. Whatever happens if you run into Kiba, it's your problem," he answered.
