Isa slumped down in to the couch of the break room and threw her hat down next to her and her feet up on the coffee table.
Sighing she reached sideways at the coffee pot that was five feet away "Must... use... all... my... mental... strength!" She strained for a second and than gave up.

*Simon entered with a smile, rubbing his neck slightly. There was blood on his apron, but not that much and his surgery had been successful (at least so far) and it put him in a chipper mood. He noticed her as he came in, his body tightening a little, but it wasn't as if they didn't see each other all the time. He was acclimating. Or something.*
"You look like you could use some coffee." *He offered with a nervous sweetness, walking towards the pot without her prompting.*

She opened her eyes suddenly "Simon, I mean Dr. Tam" she smiled and sat up "yea, I could use the whole pot, I'm sure. This is my third 14 hour shift in a row" she leaned her head back on the sofa and sighed.

*Simon bit his lip, picking up the pot and pouring her a cup. He set it in front of her and should his head sympathetically.*
"That doesn't seem right. Surely they'll let you go home."
You're no good to anyone exhausted.

She picked up the cup and took a sip "I would if I could, but with Diana out of commission they've got no head nurse that knows this hospital like we, she and I that is, do." She smiled "How's the operation going?"

*Simon bit back his concern. Who was he to tell her that she shouldn't do the job she was good at? Even if it did make him worry.*
"It went all right." *He stammered, wringing his hands for a moment.* "Got him closed up. Now it's all monitoring and making sure nothing gets infected."

"That's good, that's good" Isa nodded and took another sip leaving an uncomfortable silence to be dealt with.
So she dealt with it "So what do you do for fun? You know, other than being a doctor and, and stuff."

"Wait..." *Simon answered, looking confused but hinting at a smile.* "...we get to do something outside of work and they never told me?" *His grin widened.*
"I'm afraid that I don't get to do too much else, but..." *He shrugged.* "Normal things I guess. Like reading."
*His eyes focused more on her.*
"How about you?"

((Why is it...seeing as though I am slightly unfamiliar with the fandom... that when I read his lines, I'm hearing Robert Sean Leonard...))
"I spend most of my time at home really, or helping out John at the shelter" she laughed "I don't really have fun anymore."

((It's ok. You're not too far off. It's hard to find vids (this one is actually a deleted scene) but it's funny as hell and might help a little.)) *Simon's smile vanished, confusion and doubt washing over him rather apparently.* "Wa--you---John--huh?" *He tried to refocus.* "John? I mean, I don't know him."

Isa realized what she implied and sat up straight "No, I mean John's my friend, he-he-he runs the homeless shelter, he volunteers here..."

*Well John was a relatively common name and when she put it like that and what was he supposed to think? He looked confused for a moment longer, then brighten.*
"The...guy with the hair?" *He gestured abstractly.* "And the girl?"

Isa couldn't help but giggle "Yes sometimes he brings his daughter in, if that's what you mean."

"Oh." *Simon seemed a touch comforted by the thought.* "So...you're not...together." *He hesitated.*

"Me and John? Oh no, no, he helped me out when I first got here, got me a job at the opera for a while before I started working here." She looked up at him, a playful smile playing at the corners of her lips "He's just an old friend."
