"Oh," Georgiana said, as if thinking quite seriously about this. "But, when he speaks, you know he is speaking the truth. He is merely not one to give his opinion, or his regard, frivolously."

"...indeed. Still, that makes it difficult to judge his regard for anything, and so how is one to know what will please him unless they are exceedingly intimate with him for several years, as you are?"

Georgiana blinked. She was not used to hearing anything remotely resembling criticism of her brother.
"Well," she said slowly. "I shouldn't think it would take that long. Mr. Bingley and he are quite close, despite Mr. Bingley's character being entirely diverse from his. And in company he is more familiar with, Fitzwilliam is not quite as... as dour as you seem to think."

*Anne half-smiled.* "From what I know of Mr. Bingley, he is a pleasant-mannered young man of means. I am a poor country redhead who cannot hold my tongue."

"He is," Georgiana agreed warmly. "Mr. Bingley is all sweetness. But it does not follow that my brother's good opinion requires the same of all his friends. But he does not give his good opinion lightly, and Mr. Bingley's character is so transparent as to make such a decision not very difficult. Fitzwilliam has not always been so lucky in the past, and I think... I think perhaps it has made him cautious."
She fell silent, uncomfortable at how close that touched her, as well.

((Must...not...bring in Wickham...to barbiesmash...for angst...Hogawd what if Wickham got Darcy holdings at auction with ill-gotten gains and came to flaunt things and make trouble? Frick, I love Wickham too much. But then I'd teeter towards making him TakesAWife!Wickham where he's all about sex and murder and overdone evil.))
"...perhaps," *agreed Anne faintly, wondering if she'd hurt him so very much in her previous refusal of his offer. The idea made her distinctly uncomfortable.* "--in any case, I shall try to persuade him...if only to please you, my friend."

((Haha. I wonder if we have anyone already who could stand in? It's not like we've named him or anything. Also... SQUIRREL.))
Georgiana blushed. "Oh, not for me, Anne," she said quickly. "I shouldn't want you to do anything for me you did not wish to."

((ACKPTH!))
"I wish to do it," *Anne re-assured her.*

"Well then," Georgiana said gratefully, "thank you."

***NEW DAY***
Anne sat on a ladder leaning against an apple tree, comfortably stuck into a thrilling novel.
