Jack seemed to hesitate on what utensil to use before he remembered - the little pitchfork could be used on the spaghetti-things like one would pitch straw. Making sly little glances around, he noticed some people were using their little shovels to wind up their own noodles. Taking after their example, Jack managed to wind up a large knot of noodles and shove it into his thin face, making it bulk out to one side before it was chewed a bit and swallowed with a small choking noise as it went down.
"I think I have the gist of it..." he panted, chasing the lump down with a large gulp of wine.

Rogue giggled. It really looked like he hadn't even used silverware before.
"Is it good?"

Managing to reduce a meatball to an edible lump of meat and not send it flying at Rogue from the end of his dinner knife (which, by the way, he juggled the silverware in one hand), Jack choked again on his under-chewed food and nodded.
"It's really good, but I am glad none of my vampire friends are here. They would have to avoid me for all the garlic that is in this..." Proving his point, he managed to fish out a garlic clove with the tip of his spoon. "They really should be more careful with something like this!"

"Oh," Rogue said, not sure what to do about vampires. "Well... maybe they figure vampires aren't eating at Italian restaurants? And anyway... aren't humans supposed to stay away from them? Maybe... maybe there are lots of them in Italy, and the food is meant as a defense?"
She watched him with his silverware for a moment. And then pointedly cut something on her own plate with her utensils held the correct way.

"I suppose that could be possible..." said Jack thoughtfully, catching Rogue's little hint as to proper knife-and-fork use. Glad he didn't have to ask for help in cutting his own meat (he was pretty sure that would be embarrassing on both their parts), Jack got the hang of eating as much as his mouth could hold rather than the amount he could ultimately gather on the fork.
Once the plate was empty, Jack finished his vino, feeling warm and a little dizzy. A light smile was on his face, and it was a little watery. "Rogue... I feel... fuzzy."
((All right, Jack's a lightweight! *badum-pssh*))

Rogue herself was not a heavy drinker, but she knew about alcohol and had, at least so far, only drunk enough to make her feel warm and... nice. She frowned at Jack.
"Oh, Jack, I'm sorry," she said. "Shoulda told you about wine. You've really never had it?"

"No..." But that wasn't stopping him from having another one. It left a pleasantly warm feeling in his body, sort of like how he felt when he visited Christmastown... maybe it was because he had a whole body now that it made him a little dizzy.
Slouching in his chair, Jack's long legs folded up under the table with a light bump, making him first wince, then giggle a bit at what he did.
"But it's reallllllly tasty."

Rogue giggled, then put her serious face on, which was actually rather comical given her own tipsiness.
"But too much will make you sick," she said. "If you can get sick, and I bet you can, now."

"Oh no, I don't want to be sick!" he said, a little loudly, sitting up and leaning over the table. "I just had all that good food." Reaching over to Rogue's gloved hands, he grasped them in his long fingers, looking at her with such earnest, it was silly.
"Maybe we should go?"

Rogue had to smile at him; he was so seriously silly. "We have to pay first," she pointed out. "And I just meant maybe you shouldn't have any more of it."
She fumbled in her pocket for the money the other Rogue had given her and counted it out, a little slower than usual.
"Okay," she said, standing. The wine caught up to her a bit and she giggled. "Let's go."

Jack took up Rogue's hand as soon as they were out of the ristorante, swinging it a little like an excited child.
"Where should we go?" he asked, looking up, way up, toward the sky. "Have you been to the Eiffel Tower?"

Rogue felt unaccountably warm, and she grinned at Jack, letting her arm swing with his.
"No," she said. "I haven't. Have you?"

"I think I have... yes, I used to howl from the tower to scare everyone in Paris at once!" he said loudly, pulling Rogue along excitedly. "Let's go do that!"

Rogue let herself be pulled. She was acting uncharacteristically girlish and giddy, she realized, but oddly palling around with a would-be skeleton and King of Halloween was a lot more fun than glowering at the world through black eyeliner. Though she still had it on, of course.
"Yeah, let's!" she agreed, giggling.

Jack's eyes themselves had a naturally dark rim, despite his bright red lashes poking out along the edges, making him appear like he never slept, though, right now, he was very much awake - or so it felt.
"Wait!" he said suddenly, coming to a halt. The momentum could cause the girl to go crashing into him, but he held out his arm to catch her. "I don't know where I'm going!"
