"You misjudge your own faith" he squeezed her hand "there are many priests well versed in the ways of exorcism and willing to listen to your story."

*The Duchess smiled nervously.*
"I know that, Monsieur. But I do not know them well enough to dare to talk to them. Father Joseph was a noble man, and sympathetic. I often attended to his masses, so I know he is skilled at his work."

"I know of this father but I'm afraid he could not help you" he sighed "you need a specialist, Father Joseph was a good priest, but not one that ever exorcised ghosts or demons" John squeezed her hand.
"I will write a letter to Notre Dame, to have someone come out to your home, I am close to the bishop there, he will know I am not joking. They will check you out and if they decide that you are truly haunted as I have seen you to be." John stood up and let go of her hand "Milady Lefévre, there is of course a catch. If this man does not see you being, haunted or you being touched in anyway, they will not help you. You will have to allow one of these ghosts inside of you to that the priest may believe you."
John sat back down and sipped his tea "After that, they will send in a request to the Vatican and have one that knows what he's doing come down and help you."

*María's beautiful face turned white by the thought of allowing a ghost inside of her. Her body started trembling again, and she had to take another sip of her tea. Her hands were trembling so she had problems holding the cup.*
"A-and you know th-this will h-happen, Monsieur? Th-they wi-will be c-capable of h-helping me?"

"If you truly believe in your faith and of the lord above, than you must know that they can help you" he smiled and touched her hand, hoping to quell her shaking.

*María looked up at him, tears filling her eyes.*
"Monsieur, I am a devoted Catholic, and have been so all my life. But for some reason I do not know, I have been haunted and tormented by evil spirits from my earliest childhood. My parents... they tried to find someone to help me."
*She looked down sadly.*
"B-but the demon that- that possessed me....f-frightened away th-the s-sorcerer they sent from the v-village."

((Wait, didn't she say that she was never seen by a priest?))

((Ooops, yes she did. Thanks for noticing. I edited my last reply.))
*María smiled and looked tired up at John, the years of haunting showing in her face.*
"My parents were strictly religious, but they believed that the only one who could help me against a demon, was someone who also practiced magic, like the demon does. So they sent for this sorcerer. And-And----"
*Her body started trembling.*
"H-he came to our c-castle to see me..... Th-the demon lured him into the c-cellar and slammed the door after him.... closing him in the room for the entired night. We could hear him scream, slamming his fists against the door..... W-we tr-tried to help, b-but the d-demon attacked us every time we did. The-The next morning he-- was finally released fr-from the c-cellar. He.... ran away as if the devil himself was after him."
*She bursted out in tears.*
"He- he never recovered. N-now he is a dr-drunk, sp-spending all his time on the pubs."

((Cool))
He listened quietly and waited until she finished before speaking "You're parents should have known only a man of god could rid you of this demon, only the lord can help." He patted her hand and nodded "For one who attends church ever Sunday, you seem ill-equipped at understanding the workings of the lord" he smiled "I will send this letter and they will help you Milady, I promise you."
He didn't have any second thoughts about helping her, it didn't matter if persons were rich or poor, weak or strong, he was here to help.

*Duchess María wiped away her tears with her silky handkerchief. Then she looked up at John and smiled.*
"Forgive me for being so emotional, Monsieur. If you had only known the pressure I've lived under... But talking to you have given me peace and comfort, and for that I thank you."
*She looked around in the shelter, as if she was wondering what kind of place it was. But she had seen some of the poorly dressed humans at her arrival, and her heart twinged in compassion. In that moment she quietly made a promise to herself to use her money and title to help those less fortunate. Looking at how they suffered, made her own problems feel like bagatells. Then she lifted her head and looked at John again.*
"I meant what I said about wanting to help, Monsieur. But I don't know what I can do, or how to give the best help possible. What do you need the most, to aid these people, and to continue your work here?"
*She didn't have any second thoughts, neither did she expect anything in return. She only wanted to help.*

He sighed "Milady, I must admit your offer is very tempting, but I can not accept your money, it's just, it's not in my nature, if you would like to make a donation to the church and say it is for us, than they will give us the money."

*María smiled.*
"I was not only thinking of money, monsieur, although I admit they come in handy. I rule over several villages, and each of them have their own speciality. Would you happen to need clothes, bigger locals, more beds, a hospital, doctors, food, or medicines? I do now know what it takes to run a place like this."

He stared at her "Milady, we're but a small shelter, there is no room on this plot for a hospital" he laughed "but we could always use more clothes, food and of course medicine, if it would not be of any trouble."

*María smiled and looked back at him. The thought of helping people in need made her relax, and for a moment she didn't seem so tensed.*
"Could you please give me a list of what kind of clothes you need for your... eh... clients? I'll make sure to send clothes, blankets, food and medicines regularly. When can you receive the first sendings?"

"Oh anything will do and I am here 24/7, this is not just my shelter, it is my home."
