Erik was gratified by such devotion shown already. Maleo was biddable, even without the Angel of Music ruse, and it was refreshing.
"If you keep singing as you have, and follow my instruction, you cannot waste my time," he said. "But see that you rest and care for your body sufficiently. No instrument is at its best if not properly seen to. Until tomorrow, then, Maleo Addams."
There was something dismissive in his voice, a sort of aural bow, and Erik was gone.

"Yes... tomorrow..." he said, going over the sheet music in increasingly stronger tones. If the sound traveled well through the walls, the ghost would be treating to departing music, as Maleo had stood, already starting to practice in his room.
However, the ghost did also have one very good point - he would need to see about feeding, if Marlow would not be back in time to complete his transformation, he would have to find some form of sustenance. Idly, he wondered if food would still work for him.

***BETWEEN LESSONS***
Maleo had been starving - no, starving was too kind a word - he had been wasting away. Without Marlow's guidance, the fledgling was hesitant on taking a life himself. The Addams Clan itself had been always about slow, painful torture than quick, painless death.
Laying on his bed, Maleo had his dirt bedroll in hand beside him, drumming his fingers on the softened cloth. He did not want to admit it, but even the torment of being without his Uram was far too much to deal with. Rubbing at his face, Maleo kept a hand over his eyes for a moment, wallowing in his emo angst silent misery.

And quite suddenly, there he was in the doorway, looming as he tended to do. The old Strigoi looked less-than-healthy himself as he shut the door behind him and stepped into the room.
"I was sent out of the country. The matter could not wait."

The smaller man had jumped at the noise, nearly dropping the little dirt that he had. Sitting up on his bed, Maleo's expression was, at first, furious with the old Strigoi, but his face brightened too rapidly to show that he was permanently angry with the vampire.
Pulling off of his bed, he was to his feet and across the small room in a flash, clinging to Marlow's filthy coat. "I missed you," was all he could think of to say at the moment.

"I know."
He curled heavy arms around the sopranist and lowered his head to offer a comforting growl into the man's ear, pressing Maleo's back to irritate the wounds there.
"I would have taken you were it possible. You are thin, child. Far too thin, have you not fed?"

"I have not..." Maleo gasped pleasantly when he felt the healing scars tear a little, prolonging their seal. "But you are back now..." he trailed, lifting his face to nuzzle Marlow's (even if that was not what the vampire was trying to do, Maleo did it anyway).
"What about you? You seem worn."

"I fought in a skirmish, far away, for a sister. And it is difficult to be away from you, but yes, I am back now, and I am well enough."
Marlow lifted the smaller man up and sat on the bed with Maleo on his lap.
"Where is your earth, my chick?"

"It's here..." he said, reaching around and behind Marlow to hold up the roll of earth, which was considerably lighter than it had been when Marlow had first brought it to the young man.
"I know I have not taken the best care of it, but it was difficult - I had to make sure the maids here did not sweep it all away."

"I will bring you more."
He smiled a bit and pushed a long-fingered hand through Maleo's jet hair.
"I hope you have not enjoyed your languishing too much. Would you like me to leave again?" he teased.

"No!" he replied quickly, changing his position to cling to Marlow like a little boy. "It has become unbearable for even myself. I contemplated death... without even enjoying it!" he grumbled. Without even thinking about it, he started nibbling on Marlow's neck - not breaking through the skin, but chewing on it.

"And you are very hungry."
He hefted Maleo up a bit and held him comfortably in place against his large frame.
"Show me how your teeth are coming, child."

Maleo leaned back a bit and pushed away his hair, as he'd let it go without pomade over the past couple days, making it look stringy whenever it fell in his face. Opening his mouth, he presented his fangs - or lack thereof - to Marlow.
From the canines back looked a bit sharper, a tad more lethal, but the ones right in the front, both top and bottom were taking their sweet time in evolving. They were no more pointed than when Maleo and Marlow had met. In public, it would make his smile only a little disturbing if people happened to take a good look at his mouth.
"They're not as nice as yours," he complained, opening his mouth wider when he stopped speaking.

Marlow prodded a filthy finger into the boy's mouth, scraping over teeth, pulling his lips up to examine the gums.
"They will likely not be as sharp or malleable as my own when they are done. But they will do to tear flesh when the need arises."
He withdrew his finger and lifted one of the young man's smaller hands, examining the nails.
