*Sarah fled into the cool night air, tears rolling down her cheeks. How could she have been so stupid, to think he wouldn't move on. Find someone else. Pretty...young...lithe. She shook her head, trying to clear it of the image of her. But it was too hard. Too soon. At least there weren't so many people about, pushing and staring and...she sighed, collapsing in a heap of dress behind a bush outside the castle walls.*

Armand, lurking outside the castle, his mind in turmoil, his breathing still evening out, was very very surprised when another vampire rushed past him and collapsed nearby. He turned his head, his eyes wide, to state- it was the woman from earlier, the one who'd been surprisingly earnest, almost disgustingly so.
She hadn't seemed to notice him, but she was upset. That much was obvious to anyone with eyes. And perhaps by approaching her, Armand could calm himself. Perhaps it would take his mind off that- off of the angel.

*Sarah cradled her face in her hands, her shoulders shaking in quiet sobs. Why had she let this happen? Surely it was her fault for leaving in the first place. If only she'd stayed. Maybe then she wouldn't feel so alone now. How could she go on, so alone? She wanted to disappear into the darkness, never to be heard of again.*

Armand, approaching slowly, hesitated when he saw the unmistakable shake of the woman's shoulders. If it'd been him...he would have ripped the head off of whoever was bothering him. But he'd met her earlier that night, and this girl didn't seem the type.
Without a word, he touched the girl's shoulder and offered her a hankerchief.

*Sarah started at the unexpected touch, but took the handkerchief appreciatively, wiping her face as she struggled to stand.*
"Oh...thank you. I hope I didn't...I mean...that you weren't standing there too long. No one should have to see that."

Armand inclined his head. "It's no trouble to me," he said. "But it's a shame the night ended so badly for you, my friend."

*Sarah looked a little confused for a moment, but shook her head.*
"You don't have to take pity on me, sir. Not that I don't appreciate it!" *She added quickly.* "It's just...I'm afraid that this whole mess is my fault. I can hardly blame..."
*She frowned, her eyes wandering to the ground.*
"It's just in their nature, really..."

Armand didn't say anything. instead he sat down on the ground next to Sarah, shifting to get comfortable and glancing over his shoulder. He was still a little paranoid...that angel...and to think he'd tried to read its mind!
He pushed the thought away and turned his attention back to Sarah.
"I am Armand," he said, still quite politely.

*With him sitting, she figured it was all right for her to abandon her efforts at standing. She settle in a pile next to him, offering her hand.*
"Sarah von Kro..."
*The words died on her lips and she frowned. After a moment, she corrected.*
"Just...Sarah. Is fine."

(( Oops I thought she was already sitting. ^_^ ))
Armand looked at the hand for a second, then took it. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Sarah. Even under such unidyllic circumstances."

((She had, but when he touched her, she'd started to stand. But it's not a problem. It's better on the ground. )) *Sarah gave a nervous laugh.* "Yes, well..." *She bit her lip briefly, then glanced unexpectedly back to the castle.* "Did you...find who you were looking for? Earlier, that is."

Armand looked at her for a moment, his eyes wide, his lips parted as if to poise a question. Then he remembered. Meeting the angel had blown it right out of his head.
"I- no. I didn't." A graceful shrug of the shoulders, as Armand glanced away. "I don't think I expected to. It was just a place to start." He changed the subject quickly. "It's a beautiful night. Much better out here than in there."

"Yes..." *Sarah answered, eyes lost in thought. She shouldn't want to be back there, she wasn't wanted. And this fellow...he was trying so hard to be polite about things. She tried to appreciate it.*
"Did you...want to go for a walk? There are some lovely...gardens."
*She glanced around sheepishly.*

Armand smiled faintly. "Certainly," he said, and stood up again. He didn't go as far to offer her his arm, but he did think about it for a moment. It was clear the girl was lost in her thoughts, but they didn't seem to be good ones. She'd been nothing but friendly to him tonight; Armand had no reason to wish her unhappiness. He might as well distract her.
