"Don't you dare!" Armand hissed, stalking forward. He was filled with panic, suddenly, that Daniel would do something and Armand would never know what it was he'd done, or why he did it. He'd never remember and never dare to get near Daniel again. "Daniel, don't lose to this indiscriminate madness. Tell me what I did!"

*He tried to back away even more, but there was a wall there, and so nowhere else to go. He glanced wildly from side to side, but there was no way to go past Armand without getting within reach of him. Stuck with no way out, and already overloaded by memories of the past, he did the only thing really could at that moment.
He fainted, slumping forward onto the pile of cushions*

For a few seconds Armand simply stood there. Then he moved swiftly forward, bending over Daniel. One hand went out to gently tilt up his unresisting chin. Then, as if for the first time remembering Dorian's presence, he turned his head to look at the mortal. His expression was furious, his features exaggerated and inhuman in his anger.
"Did you arrange for this, Dorian?"

"...Ohshit.
*Dorian cringed back from the vampire- He'd been amusing to annoy, to talk with, to tease, but he'd never thought to see him so angry. A thought entered his head- he hadn't even done what he was blamed for.*
"No- I had no idea-"

Armand rose as if pulled by strings, the movement too quick and smooth for human joints. He stalked to Dorian and took his chin, forcing Dorian to meet his gaze. Eye contact wasn't necessary, but it would make it easier, and now Armand wasn't merely skimming the surface thoughts as they were broadcasted, like absently picking up radio waves with no control over what was recieved. No. He was looking for something.
Dorian hadn't planned it. His thoughts were panicky and disjointed. But -
"You knew Daniel frequented this establishment?" Armand asked, with what he considered astonishing calm.

"I knew that he comes here sometimes," *he said nervously.* "But I didn't expect him to be here tonight."

Armand's eyes narrowed. "It would have been to your benefit to have mentioned this before, Dorian," he said, and every word was clearly enunciated and very hard, as if Armand was having to make a concentrated effort on speaking rather than snarling, or screaming.

"It must have slipped my mind."
*He fought to keep from cringing and shrinking back.*

There was a stinging in his eyes and he wanted to tear something apart, but instead Armand let go of Dorian's chin. He stalked out of the den without another word and without looking back at either Daniel's slumped figure or Dorian's upright one.

*Dorian relaxed a little once Armand had gone, but waited a moment before turning his attention back to Daniel. Unsure of what to do, he nudged him a little, wondering whether the risk of Daniel being furious if he dragged him away outweighed the risk of Armand killing him if he didn't.*

*The prone vampire didn't respond. Wherever his mind had gone off to, he wasn't coming back any time soon *

((Wahhhh I fail at life. Sorry!))
*With a groan of irritation, Dorian slung Daniel's arm over his shoulder, and half carried, half dragged him toward the exit stumbling and cursing all the while. Outside, he flagged down a hansom and ordered it take them back to the inn.*

*While all this had been going on, a figure waited outside and watched as Amadeo fled. Marius couldn't have found him on his own, it was true, but the mental wail of his fledgeling was more than enough to find them. So much had happened in the hundreds of years since he last saw him- he wondered whether they could ever return to their old life.
Silently, Marius followed him, reluctant to make an entrance just yet.*

It didn't matter where he went, as long as it was away. Away, and preferably free of anyone else.
There was no precedent for this sort of thing. This was Armand's first try and his first failure as a Maker- he should have expected nothing less. Daniel had needed him and he had needed Daniel, but after Armand had turned him the balance was shifted. Neither of them needed the other anymore, not really. Their little passion play should have come to an end the night Armand had given in and turned Daniel into what he thought he wanted most. If there was anything that Armand had learned over the centuries, it was that this- this separation and hatred of one's master by a fledgling- was inevitable.
Tonight had only reinforced that. Armand should have left well enough alone. There wasn't anywhere he could flee his own stupidity.

*If Marius could read his thoughts, the irony of their meeting again would not have been lost on him. But of course he couldn't- the barrier between fledgling and maker was unbreakable, no matter the circumstances.*
"Amadeo?"
*He asked quietly, still cloaked in shadow.*
