"He made it very clear to me, friend, that you made his life a living hell."
*Dorian cocked his head to the side.*
"He never told me- what ever did you do to him, I wonder?"

Armand stared at him.
"I'm not your friend," he said, very quietly. Then he turned and slipped off into the darkness.

**NEW NIGHT**
*Having left Marianne to her own devices for a time, Daniel was back at one of his usual haunts--as of late, he'd been coming to the Den more than the Kit Kat. The old club had fallen a bit far, even for him.
He was lounging against a pile of pillows, the recently-dead body of a girl nearby. Nobody would notice her for a while...particularly not the clientele in this place*

Armand sat on a cushion on the floor of one of the rooms in the Opium den, looking very very irritable. Dorian lounged nearby, no doubt smug that he'd tricked Armand into this. If Armand didn't have his pride...
It wouldn't be so bad, really, except for the damned smoke. It pricked Armand's vamprire senses and and lulled him into a sweet sluggishness that would be pleasurable if that was the sort of thing he wanted. Earlier, aware of the unexplicablely mortal reaction his body was having to the smoke, Armand had been restless and twitchy. But after half an hour here, he couldn't prevent such a reaction.
Hunched over on the cushion, he pressed a hand to his forehead. Vampires weren't supposed to get headaches, either.

"You don't look at all as if you're enjoying yourself, Armand," *Dorian said languidly, a smirk on his face. He glanced around the room, and spotted a familiar face a little ways off.
Daniel? He couldn't believe his luck. Because he was curious, a terrible person, and high, he simply had to get them together to see if either of them would explode. From a safe distance, of course.*
"Would you walk with me then, Armand? Perhaps you need some fresh air."

*It took some time before Daniel noticed Dorian. But after a while, it was impossible to not sense the other immortal near. There was another with him, a vampire, an overwhelming force of power--old, and powerful...familiar.*
Wait, what?
*He made it a point not to associate with many of his own kind*
"Dorian...fancy meeting you here..."
*It was hard to see the other vampire in the smoky haze of the den*

Armand shot Dorian a subdued glare. "Smoke rises, Dorian." But he stood, and followed Dorian across the room, not paying much attention to the indistinct figures around them.
Until, that is, a familiar voice greeted Dorian. Armand stiffened, his brown eyes widening in shock. "...Daniel?"

"Daniel, hello! It's been far too long."
*But when Armand spoke, he took it as his cue to retreat, so they wouldn't think that he planned this intentionally.*

*Daniel froze, the shock of hearing that voice again after so much time had passed keeping him in place.*
"Wha...what..." Was all he could get out.

Armand's thoughts were racing, or they ordinarily would have been, tracking back to the steps to this moment, whether Dorian was responsible, whether he'd set this up, how he should feel about that. But Armand was having difficultly keeping his thoughts together through the pounding headache and the sudden shock of this unexpected meeting. Had he...was he...he hadn't planned for this. He'd decided, in light of all of Dorian's little hints, that he wasn't going to see Daniel. He'd decided not to seek him out after all, that just knowing he was alive and well was enough. But this...His gaze shot to Dorian, then back to Daniel.
"Daniel. You...are you..." Armand closed his eyes briefly, his lashes fluttering, then opened them, trying to force himself into some semblance of awareness and control. "Where have you been, Daniel? I was concerned."

*There were a million thoughts flying through his head, most of them highly unpleasant. Most of it things he'd been all too happy to put away and keep it away. And here, before him, was the one thing that brought it all back.
At Armand's words, Daniel laughed...a high, shrill, almost hysterical-sounding laugh*
"Concerned? Concerned?"
*More laughter, though from the sound of it, bordering on sobs*
"He's concerned," he grouned out, directing it at Dorian.

*Dorian looked between the two of them warily. Perhaps this hadn't been a good idea after all. He'd never seen Daniel like that; it was disconcerting. He shrugged a little at Daniel and decided that perhaps he should leave.*

Armand's eyebrows shot up. "Yes. Concerned." He didn't know what Daniel was thinking, something that made him uneasy at times like this. It had been nice, before, when he didn't even have to ask what was wrong. He could pluck the knowledge out from Daniel's mind and fix it. But the bond between fledgling and maker had come down on that mental connection like an iron curtain, cutting Armand off. So now, at times like these, Armand had nothing to go off but what Daniel would give him.
And what he could see now was not promising.
Of course I was concerned. Did you think I would have turned you had I not loved you too?
"You needn't sound so surprised."

*He wiped away the tears from his eyes...though if they were tears of laughter or something else, it was hard to tell.*
"Let me guess...been looking for me aaaaaallll this time, in the hopes to make amends?"
That tone...was it hysteria? Whatever it was, it sounded as though he were at the edge of something.

Armand's eyes narrowed. "Yes, you made things hard for me this time, Daniel. I don't know what it is you think I need to amend for, though." He took a step closer, the act of having something to focus on making him a little clearer, a little calmer- quite unlike Daniel, actually.
"Are you..." He trailed off, unsure of how to phrase it. Obviously Daniel wasn't well, but Armand hadn't the slightest idea what he was upset over. Armand had always come and found him, whether Daniel wanted to be found or not. That was what he did. That was how they worked.
"What is wrong with you, Daniel?"
That tone of voice. If his fledgling had gone insane, so soon...well. How fitting. The irony was not lost on Armand.
