An opportunity?
"Were you hoping to work through this in therapy or with chemical assistance?"

"It's entirely up to you, but I will say that therapy tends to take years and is often more about accepting your loss than recovering it."
And of course, I do have a friend helped by chemicals...for a given value of 'helped', anyway.

*She paused for a moment. She didn't have the patience for that, and, if her hunches here correct, she didn't have the time either.*
"In that case, chemical. During my research, I read that that is your specialty. I have full confidence in your methods."

Wonderful.
"You are correct about that- I have spent much of my career attempting to develop chemical cures."
He reached for a syringe and a vial on his desk.

"Now?" *she asked curiously.* "I'm sorry. I just wasn't expecting any sort of treatment during our first meeting."

"Well, no- I would need your forms and medical history. I was simply thinking about the possible drugs available."

((LOL!))
*She was familiar at all with the names... not that she expected to be. However, the fact that he was willing to share his treatment plan was rather reassuring to her.*
"In any case, I must reiterate the importance of complete confidentiality. I cannot stress that enough."

((Yes!))
***A FEW DAYS LATER***
*Sydney was now in a more laboratory-like room in a large chair. The room was empty for the most part and quite colorless but she preferred it that way. She found sterile environments comforting: they was clean, safe and most importantly predictable. She sat there wearing something other than Victorian clothes for a change, watching the door, waiting for someone to walk into the room.*

Crane came in, happy with the results of his latest drug- if all went well, the 'memories' it stirred up would be overlaid with an increase in guilt, and it would be interesting to see how a reasonably sane subject would react (a madwoman he'd tried it on earlier had committed suicide as an immediate result.)
"Are you ready?"
