She seemed pretty willing for a former queen, and Kris felt bad that they didn't have any need for archery.
It struck her, suddenly, that the children needed looking after. But she wouldn't wish that job on anyone. Still...
"I'd have to ask their parents," Kris said slowly, "but how are you with children? Six years old, or so."

"Er...I think I'd be alright," *said Susan honestly.* "I've got two younger siblings, a brother and a sister."

"Well, don't worry about it," Kris said cheerfully. "I'll talk to them. In the meantime, consider yourself hired. If nothing else, there are always dishes."

*Susan grinned.*
"Thank you--thank you very much!" *she said graciously.* "I'd like to be of help any way I can..."
*One had to survive, after all. True, she could camp and hunt in the woods for a time, but it was a lonely and uncertain way of life...and when one was not in battle, it seemed, to her, unnecessary.*

*Susan grinned at Wolf.*
"Alright, you did," *she said with a nod of agreement.*
"Thank you again," *she said to Kris.*

"You're welcome," she said. "Let me just go see; but for now--"
She darted behind the desk and emerged with a key.
"Room 23."

Smiling he scratched his head and felt something behind him, turning his head, he could see his tail poking out of his jeans and growled softly.

*Susan cocked her head to one side, peering around Wolf and seeing his point.*
"Oh," *she said, managing to smother a giggle. A Queen did not laugh at such things--Wolf couldn't help having a tail. She never laughed at centaurs. Not after the initial shock of centaurs and fauns and everything else in Narnia had passed. Still, an amused smile crept across her face.*

"It'd be all right, you know if it didn't itch, it makes me look like I'm itching my butt, heh."

*Susan's mouth quirked violently as she tried to contain both her laughter and her astonishment at his frank and, to her mind, rather vulgar language.*
"You're...American, I take it?"

"Well I lived there, once, but no, I'm from the second kingdom."
